Pacquiao sings with Will Ferrell on Jimmy Kimmel show

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao and comedian Will Ferrell teamed up for one of John Lennon’s best songs “Imagine” on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night. Ferrell was having fun with the song, but Pacquiao took it seriously and tried to do his best with it. For a boxer, Pacquiao did a decent job singing. His accent took away from what could have been a really good performance from him.

I have no clue why boxers like Pacquiao branch into singing. I know Oscar De La Hoya, Larry Holmes and Joe Frazier were some of the fighters that decided to sing but I didn’t particularly care for any of their signing, just as I don’t think Pacquiao sings all that good either. I guess it’s something that Pacquiao does to whip up his loving fans. Judging by the encouragement he was getting on the Kimmel show, they seem to like his singing. I must admit this is a clever way for Pacquiao to hook more of the casual boxing fans into seeing his fight with Antonio Margarito on November 13th. By showing a different side to his life, Pacquiao might draw in more fans than he otherwise would if he gave a boring interview. He sings a lot better than he talks in my view.

Pacquiao plans on singing after his fight with Margarito. It may not be hard to do if he easily beats the Mexican, but if it turns out to be a grueling fight in which Pacquiao absorbs a lot of shots, he may want to cancel his singing for the night and rest up.
