Froch says “I’m going to rain down bombs on Arthur”

Image: Froch says "I'm going to rain down bombs on Arthur"By Scott Gilfoid: For a change, former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) had a slightly interesting column at thisisnottingham.co.uk. In the best part of the column, Froch said this about his November 27th Super Six tournament fight against Arthur Abraham: “When my trainer Rob McCracken lets me off the leash at the first bell, I’m going to rain down bombs on Arthur Abraham and show him who’s boss. It will be another victory for Nottingham and I’m looking forward to getting that green WBC belt back around my waist. It will be made sweeter as I will also be putting Sauerland Promotions out of this tournament.”

I hope for Froch’s sake that’s not how he’s going to be fighting Abraham on 11/27, because if he attacks him from the start, it’s going to make it that much easier for Abraham to knock Froch senseless. If you think Abraham’s brutal shots that he landed against Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell were something, watch what he’ll do with Froch unless Froch tries to protect himself. Taylor and Dirrell fought a totally defensive fight against Abraham, and yet both of them were still hurt. Granted, Abraham had to foul the talented Dirrell to hurt him, but it still amounted to the same thing.

If Froch tries to rain down shots on Abraham, he’s going to get hit with a sledgehammer right hand and knocked flat. I don’t want to see another Super Six tournament fighter removed from the tourney because of injury. This is why I hope Froch figures out how to protect his head before November 27th, and doesn’t go into the fight thinking he can slug with Abraham, because Froch can’t.

As for the rest of Froch’s column, he covered the Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito and David Haye vs. Audley Harrison bouts without saying a whole lot. He didn’t give a prediction on the Haye-Harrison, which made his preview pretty much worthless. He did pick Pacquiao to beat Margarito. That was an easy pick.

Froch said he thought that Jason Booth would have done a better job against WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka instead of Rendall Munroe, who ended up getting spanked by Nishioka by a 12 round decision. I think Booth would have been massacred by Nishioka. I don’t even see that as a fight. Booth had his hands full against Steve Molitor, who beat him by a 12 round decision recently.
