With the win, Froch re-captured his WBC title which he had lost in his last fight in the Super Six tournament against Mikkel Kessler. Now with the best back in his possession, Froch moves into the semifinals of the Super Six tournament against 41-year-old Glen Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KO’s) in a fight that will be taking place in the United States at a still to be determined location.

While Frcoh, 6’2″, was able to easily control the 5’10” Abraham with his superior height and reach, he’s going to have a slightly taller and much more active opponent in 5’11” Johnson. The size may not be much of a difference for Froch, but will be is Johnson’s work rate. He’s the complete opposite of Abraham in the respect that he throws nonstop punches unlike Abraham, who was only good for 10 to 20 punches per round under the best of circumstances for his fight with Froch last weekend. Johnson throws a lot of punches, and isn’t afraid to get hit while coming forward.

Froch was able to control Abraham for much of the fight by making him think twice about attacking him because Abraham knew he would get hit on the way in or if he missed a shot. Johnson doesn’t care if he gets hit and has been fighting at light heavyweight. He’s used to facing bigger fighters and arguably better talented fighters like Chad Dawson and Antonio Tarver. This could be a problem for Froch, because he’s going to be getting hit and Johnson still punches very hard even though he’s in his early 40s now.

Froch is going to have to deal with a much different fighter than his last fight. In a way, Johnson is like an older version of Kessler, because he’s not going to stop throwing punches and will be looking to back Froch up and get in his face. Froch isn’t a good inside fighter, and that could be an area where Johnson will be able to take advantage of Froch to land shots and dominate.
