By Matt Stein: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) will be facing an unpredictable fighter out of the ring and in the ring when he takes on Britain’s Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) on December 11th at the SAP-Arena, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Chisora, 26, a fighter that appears to be carrying around 30-40 pounds of excess baggage on his short 6’1” frame, isn’t much of a threat with his punches. Chisora doesn’t have much power, speed or technique. However, he is dangerous in the ring in one way.

A year ago, Chisora bit his opponent Paul Butlin in the 5th round in the process of beating him by an 8 round decision. It was an incredibly bizarre thing for Chisora to do, because he was easily controlling the fight and having zero problems with Butlin. Chisora was fined £2,500 for the bite incident and suspended for four months.

Next, Chisora kissed the 280 pound Carl Baker in a pre-fight stare-down, which led to Baker throwing Chisora to the floor in response to the big kiss. Why Chisora would resort to this kind of thing is unclear, as Baker, a fighter with a 9-4 record, was badly over-matched in this fight and really had no chance to win the fight.

It’s bad enough that Chisora was fighting someone as over-matched as Baker, but to kiss him was like rubbing salt in the wound. It wasn’t needed. Wladimir needs to keep his distance from Chisora during their staredowns, just in case Chisora decides to try and embarrass Wladimir by planting a big wet one on his lips the way he did with Baker.

I doubt Chirora will risk biting Wladimir, but you never know. I did see Chisora holding and hitting in his recent win over Sam Sexton in September, but thankfully no biting.
