Prediction: Froch to get knocked out by Abraham

By Scott Gilfoid: In the European stage 3 Super Six bout between Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) and Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) in the Super Six tournament, we have to two slow, plodding sluggers facing off in what could be a hard to watch fight unless Abraham gets busy and actually throws some punches early in the fight. Abraham usually has a problem with being lazy and not letting his hands go until late in the fight. It’s like he conserves energy until the last few rounds of the fight, at which point he goes wild trying to score a knockout. It usually works for Abraham until he met up with American Andre Dirrell, who schooled Abraham for the entire fight until Abraham blew gasket in the 11th round and fouled the defenseless Dirrell after he had slipped and fallen on the canvas in the 11th.

Abraham was then disqualified. And that’s what Abraham gets for being lazy. I hope he doesn’t fight like that against Froch, because it’s not necessary. All Abraham has to do is let his hands go early, tee off on Froch’s unguarded head and blast him out in two or three rounds for early night. When you punch as hard as Abraham does and you got a fighter like Froch, who leaves his head totally unguarded, it’s like Froch is begging to get clouted.

Abraham is going to oblige Froch by knocking him cold unless Froch has actually learned how to cover his head. I doubt that Froch will even go through the motions to show anything resembling defense on November 27th. Froch will be Froch. He’ll plod forward as he always does, standing straight up in his European style of fighting, hands hanging down and taking vicious shots to the head over and over again.

It’s going to be brutal, but I think this fight has a strong possibility of being a boring affair because of the plodding style of the two fighters and the lack of hand speed. Both Abraham and Froch are about as slow as you’re ever going to get from two super middleweights. It’s a fight that is typical of the average European affair with two fighters with no hand speed plodding after each other and looking as if they don’t care much about protecting themselves. I see Abraham winning but only because Froch will make it easy for him with his hands down by his sides. I don’t know why fighters who have no hand speed sometimes try to use this style of fighting when it clearly doesn’t work for them.
