Pacquiao/Roach, Andre Dirrell, 2011Boxing Hall of Fame ballot, what the game’s been missing, and more!

By Marquise Bullock: I find it quite crazy that a lot of the boxing media have Margarito as a favorite to win the November 13th match up between himself and Pacquiao. A lot of rumors have been circulating about “Pacmans” performances in training, and his lackadaisical work ethic for this upcoming bout. Roach talks just as much smack as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and many spectators are thinking he putting his foot in his mouth.

Emanuel Steward gave a interview while back with Roger Mayweather. And Steward made a very good point. He said he stays in a trainers place, and that Roach talks for Pacquiao too much. He also went on to say he loves the limelight too much. And honestly I have too agree. What is Roach? Is he a trainer? Is he a promoter? Is he a manager? And I find it very disrespectful that he told Margarito that the fight would be over inside eight rounds like Margarito is a amateur at this. I like Pac, but that trainer needs a reality check.

On Eastside Boxing radio they talked about the Super Six, and Andre Dirrell. And Dirrell really messed his chances up to be called one of the best. I mean of course he can still do it, but the Super Six was the place to do it. Ward is a betting favorite right now to win this whole thing, and a win over ward would’ve brought some big bucks in and a fight with Lucian Bute. Also he would be able too avenge a loss or a disappointing win, depending on who wins the Froch-Abraham fight. Then he could’ve moved on to light heavyweight and mixed it up with those guys. Dirrell is about 6’2 and has a sleek frame for a body. He talks enough trash too draw viewers, and he has the skill of the good old classic old timers. He’s a classic type fighter and the fight game needs him.

The 2011 Boxing Hall of Fame fighters could possibly be “Iron” Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Kostya Tszyu. They have to be voted in, for those who don’t know. But who wouldn’t want to vote any of these guys in? Tyson is the youngest person to hold the heavyweight title winning it at the age of 20, can you believe that, 20. That might never be done again. Seriously. Chavez record speaks for it self 115 pro fights, 27 title defenses, and 37 amazing title fights. With those stats I thought he was in the BHOF already! And the media says Tszyu is questionable but with being the undisputed Jr. welterweight champion and 14-2-1 in title fights…he’s got my vote. Roy Jones Jr. and Evander Holyfield could’ve been going to the BHOF this next year, but they feel they still have it. With those two included what a class it would’ve been.

The game’s been missing reasonable promoters and classic fighters. The 140 pound division is stacked right now. I want to see everyone fight each other then move up to welterweight. For example: I just don’t want to see Amir Khan fight just Maidana and the winner of the Bradley-Alexander fight. I want to see him fight both winner and loser of the Bradley-Alexander fight, Victor Ortiz, Zab Judah, Juan Manuel Marquez, and then move up and that goes vise versa for the rest of them. We have no more division sweeps in boxing anymore. Or the best fighting the best. Some one needs too grow a Mike Tyson heart. Until that happens the fight game is going to be just a little dry for a while.
