Khan-Maidana: Glass chin or not, Amir is still getting knocked out

By Scott Gilfoid: I frankly don’t care whether WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan’s chin has suddenly gotten a lot better since he was brutally knocked out in the 1st round by Breidis Prescott back in 2008, I still see Khan getting flattened on December 11th by WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana when they meet up at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The thing of it is, you don’t need to have a glass jaw for Maidana to knock you out. He does it anyway.

As long as your human and not from another world, Maidana is going to knock you out if he hits you enough. Maidana is going to find Khan’s chin at some point early in the fight and when that happens, I feel sorry for Khan. Having Freddie Roach will be useful for him. He can have him help administer the smelling salts afterwards. It’s amusing to see how Khan is under the impression that his chin has gotten better because he’s now being trained by Roach and he’s fighting at a higher weight.

Khan is kidding himself. Roach doesn’t change a thing. Khan still is basically the same fighter he was in the past. It doesn’t matter even if his chin did get better, he’s still going to get knocked out. Maidana has knocked out 27 of his opponents, and Khan is going to be number 28.

I don’t think for a second that Khan’s chin has improved since he was blown out by Prescott. Nah, I don’t believe a chin can get better. Khan wasn’t weight drained in that fight nor was he weight drained in all the other fights he was knocked down in at lightweight.

Khan was knocked down and knocked out because his chin isn’t strong. It hasn’t gotten better. The only real change I see is that Khan has been carefully guided by being put with the weak punchers in light welterweight division up until now.
