Chisora calls Briggs an “Embarrassment to boxing”

By Dave Lahr: I just saw video of the press conference between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) and his next opponent Derek Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) in Germany. Chisora called Shannon Briggs an “Embarrassment to boxing” because he was beaten by WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last weekend. I’d like to see how Chisora would fight with a torn left biceps. He should try that out for a change. He can come back at 38, then experience a tear in his left biceps and then fight for 12 rounds with it. I’d like to see how well Chisora does fighting with that kind of injury at that advanced age.

This is what Chisora said about Briggs: “I won’t give respect to this man, because he has let down all of boxing. He’s an embarrassment to boxing. He should hang up his gloves. If I saw him myself, I’d slap his face.” Briggs would beat Chisora right now if he didn’t have a muscle tear. I think a prime Briggs would literally destroy Chisora without even batting an eyelash, but I think Briggs would easily handle Chisora right now because of Shannon’s power.

After Wladimir finishes beating Chisora up, I’d like to see Chisora take on Briggs so that he could show how much better he is than him. I think it would be funny to see Chisora getting beaten up by a fighter that he calls an “embarrassment to boxing.” Wladimir asked Chisora to respect Briggs for his past accomplishments and Chisora wouldn’t even listen. Briggs needs to take on Chisora next, if his promoter will let him. I doubt Briggs will get a chance to fight Chisora because after he gets knocked out, he’ll probably be put back in with domestic fighters for the next two or three years while he licks his wounds from the beating. A prime Briggs would be nightmare for Chisora and I think Briggs still has more than enough left to beat Chisora, barring anymore bicep tears. I’d like to see Chisora take 1/5th of the kind of punishment that Briggs took against Vitali without getting knocked out. Sam Sexton, a weak puncher, had Chisora in trouble during their last fight.
