Image: Wladimir Klitschko calls Haye's fight against Harrison the "London championship fight"By Scott Gifloid: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko doesn’t think too much of WBA heavyweight champion David Haye’s upcoming November 13th fight agaisnt 38-year-old Audley Harrson, saying in an article at thesun.co.uk “This Haye fight against Harrison is a London championship fight. It’s just a local fight, but basically for the sport, it doesn’t really mean anything. Fan around the world – they are not that stupid.” Klitschko is right. Haye’s fight against Harrison is like a cherry picking exhibition bout more than a true heavyweight test. It’s like a foxhole for Haye to hide out for awhile from the Klitschko brothers, but Vitali and Wladimir will still be there when and if Haye beats Harrsion.

Since Haye doesn’t have the best of chins, I can’t say for sure he’ll win. I mean I think Harrison is an awful fighter but Haye just doesn’t look good when he’s hit solid and his resume is so painfully weak since moving up to the heavyweight division that it’s hard for me to take him seriously. It was hilarious to see Haye trying to defend his record in his recent twitter video where Haye started rattling off names like John Ruiz, Monte Barrett and Nikolay Valuev, and wondering why the Klitschko brothers had never chosen to fight Ruiz and Valuev, as if they were scared of them.

That was really reaching by Haye and it seemed almost pathetic to see him stoop that level to justify his own fights with the 38-year-old Barrett, 38-year-old Ruiz and 36-year-old Valuev. But as far as his fight with Harrison goes, that is a glorified London championship fight. It’s completely regional and for the British fans only. Certainly hardcore fans will tune into see the results but there’s real interest there. But what’s weird is how secretive Haye is about the fight. Why isn’t Haye acting proud about his fight with Harrison and bragging 24/7 about how he’s going to knock him out?

I swear it seems like Haye is waiting until the last second to announce the fight so that he can save himself a little bit of criticism about his choice of opponent. He might as well come out with it now, because everybody already knows and his excuses about the contract negotiations with Wladimir Klitschko didn’t seem to impress anyone. In other words, boxing fans still think Haye is ducking Wladimir and his brother Vitali. Haye didn’t help himself by waiting this long to start talking about the failed negotiations. He should have said something a long time ago about this.
