At the opening bell of the first round Allen Green appeared to have a solid game plain to implement against his world champion foe. It didn’t take long however for Andre Ward to show Allen Green along with the rest of the boxing world that Andre Ward had a game plain that was impenetrable.

Ward successfully used the 18 square foot ring to his every advantage possible. In the early rounds of the fight Green tried to cut off the ring on Ward but the champion was able to beat the challenger to the punch continually throughout every round.

Green was a game fighter at least throughout the first half of the fight but in the sixth round Ward had Green against the ropes and one of several uppercuts that landed to the head and body appeared to have Green hurt.

Beside the fact that this fight was taking place in Andre Ward’s home town, ending each round except the second with a flurry of clean solid punches that found their mark every time they were thrown put the exclamation point at the end of every stanza for Ward.

At the end of the eighth round Allen Green made his way back to his corner with the look on his face like a beat fighter.

In the ninth round Allen Green landed an uppercut to the acknowledgement of the champion. It was however the last time Allen Green landed anything of significance in this fight as it became clear the challenger underestimated the champion.

Andre Ward continued to dictate the offensive flow of this fight fighting on the inside and using every inch of this small ring to his advantage.

Ward continued to keep pressure on throughout the fight; Green never established himself with anything consistent; Ward used the uppercut effectively in every round that Green had no answer for; Green kept his left hand down leaving an open target for Ward throughout this fight.

After the 12th and final round the fight goes to the judge’s scorecards: 120-108 on all three cards for the winner by unanimous decision Andre Ward.

Andre Ward improves his record to 22 wins with no loses and 13 knockouts. Allen Green falls to 29 wins with 2 loses including 20 knockouts.
