Mabuza stops Kendall Holt, Jones decisions Bruseles
By Jim Dower: In a shocking upset, former World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Kendall Holt (25-4, 13 KO’s) was taken out in the 6th on Saturday night by number #13 ranked WBO light welterweight contender Kaizer Mabuza (23-6-3, 14 KOs) in an IBF light welterweight title eliminator bout at the Ballys Park Place Hotel Casino, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Mabuza, 30, battered Holt with heavy shots from rounds three on. Holt, 28, wisely chose not to come out for the 7th round.
In other action on the same card, welterweight Mike Jones (19-0, 16 KO’s) defeated Henry Bruseles (28-3-1, 15 KO’s) by a 10 round unanimous decision.
Light middleweight Gabriel Rosado (13-4, 8 KO’s) defeated Saul Roman (32-5, 27 KO’s) by a 10 round split decision.
