By Eric Thomas: The mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley could be announced very soon, according to Yahoo news. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has been working hard at ironing out fight negotiations between Mayweather and Mosley, which will include the Olympic style random blood testing that caused the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to fall apart. Schaefer says “I hope to have something to announce in the next few days.”
Mosley, 38, is considered to be among the top three welterweights in boxing, perhaps behind only Mayweather and Pacquiao. Mosley was supposed to be fighting World Boxing Council welterweight champion Andre Berto on January 30th, but Berto pulled out because of the huge earthquake in Haiti, which killed some of his family members.
The winner of the Mayweather-Mosley fight will likely face Pacquiao next, if an agreement can be made about the blood testing for the fight. It’s unknown at this point if Mosley would push for the blood testing in a fight against Pacquiao after seeing how that destroyed the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
Yahoo writer Kevin Iole reports that a news conference announcing the Mayweather-Mosley bout could take place next week.
