Image: Urango wants Khan, Maidana, Bradley and Alexander but how far will he good before being beatenBy Peter Wells: According to sources from Boxingscene.com, International Boxing Federation light welterweight champion Juan Urango is looking at all the top dogs in the crammed light welterweight division. Those opponents are WBA number #1 contender Marcos Maidana who not to long ago ruined Victor Ortiz in 5 brutal rounds with 5 knockdowns, and Maidana is also linked with WBC champion Devon Alexander in a March 6th showdown. Then there is World Boxing Association champion Amir Khan who has been linked with just about everyone in or around the division, and is has been approached by Paulie Malignaggi which is looking like a very likely fight.

Amir Khan hasn’t proven much yet, but looks like a great star in the making and a fight with Urango would be a good tester, especially for his chin. Then there is WBO champion, and on paper the best fighter in the 140lbs weight class, Tim Bradley. Bradley has been champion for quite a while now, starting off by defeating Junior Witter early last year for the WBC title, and defended against Ednar Cherry before vacating it after beating WBO champion Kendall Holt in a unification clash last December.

After that he fought Nate Campbell, in a fight he was dominating before an accidental headclash caused the fight to be stopped after 3 rounds, and it was later changed to a no-contest. Then in his last fight this month he beat the lanky Lamont Peterson in a dominant performance which proved his greatness at Light Welter. Lastly he would like to fight WBC champion Devon Alexander who is scheduled to fight on March 6th with Maidana as the most likely opponent. Alexander only just won the title this August by retiring Junior Witter, and is looking like a good little talent.

Urango will most likely be dethroned by one of these fighters and will be left without much recognition; his most likely opponent would be Alexander or Khan. Most of these fighters would prefer to fight it out between in each other, a little bit like a mini tournament only without all the leader board and being chosen who to fight next. For Urango he has to prove himself first and one defeat could ruin all his plans for sure.
