Roach wants Bradley as sparring partner for Pacquiao: Is Freddie overdoing it a little?

By Manuel Perez: Philboxing is reporting that Freddie Roach is looking to get Timothy Bradley as one of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partners to help prepare for the fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think Roach is starting to go overboard now with his ideas for Pacquiao. If they use Bradley as sparring partner for Pacquiao, they’ll probably have to take Manny out for the fight in a gurney with an IV bag connected to him, because there won’t be much left for him to fight Mayweather. I wonder what Pacquiao is thinking about all this?

What good will it do Pacquiao if he gets beaten black and blue by Bradley every day during training camp and then has to go out and take another beating from Mayweather on March 13th. I think Roach isn’t doing Pacquiao any favors with adding Bradley as a potential sparring partner. I think Bradley is better than Pacquiao. It will be a disaster to have Bradley in training camp.

That’s like sending a young George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Larry Holmes to David Haye’s training camp to help him prepare for his fight with John Ruiz next year. They’d have to cart what’s left of Haye out in a wheelbarrow for the fight, because he’d be in sheer hell during training camp. Does Roach really want that for Pacquiao? He’s already got Amir Khan as one of the sparring partners.

If you add Bradley to that mix, then I really feel sorry for Pacquiao. Can you imagine how much punishment Pacquiao migh have to absorb against those two fighters.

I think Roach needs to stop helping Pacquiao so much and start downsizing his idea. I want Pacquiao to be whole for his fight with Mayweather, not looking like a survivor of the Napoleonic wars. Someone needs to calm Roach down with his ideas before Pacquiao gets badly hurt. I don’t want Pacquiao coming out looking half beaten already. He has it bad enough already with arguably the best fighter on the planet facing him.
