Image: Mayweather wants Pacquiao to provide blood tests - newsBy Liam Santiago: Floyd Mayweather Snr has told fight hype that he wants World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to take blood test, prior to their March 13th showdown in Vegas, after much speculation linking Pacquiao to performing enhancing drugs. However, although Freddie Roach has no problem with the tests, he does not want them to be conducted any shorter than six weeks prior to the bout as it may affect Pac Man mentally. Mayweather, however, strongly disagrees. He said in an article at Fight Hype, ”He [Roach] didn’t even say Manny would be too drained if he gave blood, he said it would affect him [Pacquiao] mentally, so unless he has something to hide, it shouldn’t affect him mentally.”

Roach jabbed Mayweather Snr by stating he did not have the high school knowledge to understand performing enhancing drugs. Mayweather said, ”You don’t have to finish high school to understand performing enhancing drugs. We train world class athletes every day. Shows you how much Freddie Roach knows”.

Mayweather went on, ”Yeah, I definitely want Pacquiao to give blood. How is that going to affect him mentally? You could give blood a day before the fight and it wouldn’t affect you, let alone 3 weeks out. Something isn’t right man and we’re going to make sure everything is copacetic”.

I have to admit, giving a small amount of blood will have no impact on Pacquiao’s preparation in any way. So why does Roach not want these tests to be done within six weeks of the fight? What is there to hide? Personally, I do not think the Pac Man is on any kind of steroids. I believe the reason for Pacquiao’s recent success is very careful match making against fighter’s who were just about shot, or weight drained, which was the case against De La Hoya and Cotto. Hatton was simply shot and peaked too early. I do not think anyone believes that Pacquiao could beat a prime De La Hoya, Cotto or Hatton.
