pac6734423By Frank Car: Jerry Jones, the owner of the 1.2 billion dollar Dallas Cowboys Stadium is apparently not ready to lie down just yet, if he ever was. Recently it was reported that Dallas was out of running to host the Mega-Fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao because Mayweather interests basically didn’t want it outside Vegas. Well money talks, and either Vegas or Dallas walks.

It has come down to the final two venues of Dallas and Las Vegas. Even though Dallas was seemingly out of the running less than a day ago.

Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter on Thursday night said “we are finalizing the contract and then we’ll determine the site. There are two places in the running. At least we’ve eliminated all the nonsense. It’s between the MGM Grand or Dallas,” when speaking with Philboxing.com.

Arum went on to elaborate on Dallas’s position, and that Jerry Jones “made a fantastic offer to us. He has already indicated that he’s going to increase it and it will be by far the biggest site fee ever.”

From the beginning, I felt the only way Dallas was going be able to get this Mega-Fight is to almost literally put their money where their mouth is. It really might have helped for anyone trying to promote the Dallas Cowboys Stadium to just put money in their mouth when speaking. Not that it’s not a nice stadium, which is definitely is, but mainly because Vegas wants and needs this so bad that the only way this has a chance to go anyplace else is for someplace to outbid Vegas by a good amount. If it’s a close bidding with the overall money being made the same it will probably go to Vegas. However, from the sounds of it Dallas is making some big, big offers. The biggest offer ever to host a match in fact. Of course, this match is most likely going to make the most money ever as well.

Don’t count out Vegas obviously, they are probably still the front runner. The MGM Grand is going to make a nice offer of its own and Arum agrees, continuing in saying that the MGM Grand will “come up with a very good offer and that will determine what we’re going to do,” but for the first time I feel that Dallas has a real shot at it.

Hey if it doesn’t make dollars it doesn’t make sense as many in boxing would say. Well then it probably doesn’t make sense to turn away dollars. So If holding it in Dallas makes a considerable amount more money.. Vegas rolls a 12 and craps.
