mayweather44479By Peter Wells: With the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight set for next year, this fight may mean a hell of a lot more to Mayweather than he realises. Mayweather has plenty of doubters on this website and off this website; he has been called a cherry picker and so on. If Mayweather loses this fight, then for most people his legacy will go down the drain, winning may be the most important thing in his boxing career. A win would prove to everyone he really is a great fighter, and all his other fights weren’t just cherry picking old fighters.

Pacquiao should be the favourite hear, and Mayweather knows he’s up against the biggest challenge of his career, talking won’t work here, he can only fight this one, and losing isn’t an option.

Both fighters have great legacy’s and this fight would determine who’s legacy will live longer, it’s a fight for the future, if Mayweather loses he will be most likely forgotten only remembered for his big mouth, while even if Pacquiao loses he will still be remembered as a great fighter and one of the best ever to live. Manny winning would just boost his legacy to a point that only fighters like Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis could reach. Winning for Floyd would give him a huge boost in popularity and would be given great recognition, it would shoot into some of the best ever but not as high as those I just mentioned.

Honestly my opinion on this fight isn’t sorted yet, I’d give both fighters a shout at the moment, but legacy’s are a huge thing in this fight especially for Mayweather, Manny’s is already secure it’s down to Mayweather to improve his own. But still that doesn’t mean Manny is going to let Floyd off the hook, getting up with the very best ever to live is a dream only the minority of boxers get to live.
