By Dennis Broadhurst: Firstly I would like to say to the readers that I do not hate Amir Khan, I think he is a great prospect in boxing and if he starts fighting positively again like he did last year then I see him becoming a big attraction in boxing. After reading some articles in papers of Khan being “upset” about racial slurs and insults that he has read on various boxing sites so I would just like to say that I do not want any comments on Khan’s race about any of my articles, Khan is a BRITISH fighter, he won a silver medal in 2004 for us so treat him with some respect people!

After his first round knockout loss last year to the hands of Breidis Prescott, I see Khan looking very hungry going into this fight. Normally a fighter is hungry for a title but Khan has is title and wants to keep it. Recent pictures of Khan have him also looking extremely confident which I think is a good thing for the young champion as I feel he has been a little hesitant since the Prescott fight as he looks to keep from being caught again, hopefully in this fight Khan will fight a little more positively and score a great win over a good challenger.

In the past Khan has fought some poor boxers such as Oisin Fagan and Graham Earl but he dispatched of both of these men with ease and showed some great skill in doing so. I feel his best win came last year in his fight before Prescott, this fight of course was the thriller against Michael Gomez. Gomez was obviously not a top, world level fighter but he was a good challenger to Khan, win decent power and a good chin. In the fight Khan came up fast and put Gomez down in the first round with a great, fast combination. In the second round he came out again fast but ended up gettiong caught and knocked down himself, he did look shaken by this knockdown but not extremely hurt. Khan then bounced back hurting Gomez and cutting him. I the fourth round Gomez landed a solid hook to Khan’s body which probably broke a rib, Khan was in obvious pain but responded with a huge combination with loads of shots landing clean on Gomez and pushing him back across the entire ring. In the fifth Gomez took a knee but got up but later in the round a solid uppercut rocked Gomez and he was stopped when he took a number of clean blows unanswered.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M2VyDXhoEs – Khan definitely showed he has good heart in this fight and I think he will show it against Salita.

I have not seen much a Salita but I have seen enough to know that he will trouble Khan but I still doubt he will beat him. Salita has a fantastic left hook which I feel may cause Khan problems but I feel he is too slow and slow moving to catch Khan who after training with Roach will have a tight guard and will move well. Salita has got good power and can hurt Khan, he will aim for his head where he feels we is weakest but I feel that he will be too eager for the knockout and Khan will catch him with his extremely fast hands. I am sorry for my lack of knowledge on Salita but I could only see what was on youtube, from what I have seen I believe Salita is capable of taking Khan into deep waters but I think Khan will use his skill, speed and stamina to take Salita out in the mid to late rounds.

Anyone who says that I am a Khan hater is talking nonsense, I have criticized Khan in the past but I do think he is a good fighter, capable of becoming top class. Prediction on fight: Khan to win, hopefully by tko.
