Khan would struggle with Marquez: Risk not worth reward

I know that Amir is a very good fighter, he has very quick hands, ok power and good general movement also with the great trainer Freddy Roach in his corner he can be built into a force to be reckoned with. In a fight against Marquez, Khan would sure have the advantage in youth, size and speed but Marquez would have advantages in power, experience, ring intelligence and chin.

In making a fight with Marquez, Khan would be looking to fight an old, past it, possibly fallen warrior in Marquez who he would see as an easier fight than Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander and possibly even Ricky Hatton but I truly believe that Khan would be in for a shock if he got into the ring with Marquez.

Khan is a good fighter with serious potential but I believe that if he went into a fight with Marquez, too eager to impress as always then he would make some mistakes and the old warhorse would capitalize on them. These mistakes are for example throwing six punch combination’s and leaving himself open for counter punches from a counter punching master.

Another could be Khan burning himself out by trying too hard to impress and then Marquez going on the offense with his powerful punches. The reason I think Khan would be very eager to impress is that I think that he would believe that beating Marquez more convincingly than Pacquaio would escalate him to the world stage.

Marquez will be looked at as a stepping stone for Khan but he has very good power, being able to wobble Pacquaio and knock out 37 men in 50 wins and I think his power and speed would be at a good balance at 140lbs. He lasted well for two fights with Pacquiao and even held him to a draw, he has an iron chin and has tasted punchers power a lot more than Khan has.

I believe that Marquez would be able to walk through Khan’s shots, being able to land his own to keep the fight tight. This would make Khan fight hard and he would being to tire more than has been shown and then his movement would slow a little and all his speed would be worthless, then Marquez would go in for the kill.

I hope I am wrong because I like Khan, as a fellow Brit I hope he goes places in boxing but I see Marquez being able to beat him or if Khan beats Marquez by outboxing him he will be criticized for beating a washed-up, old fighter. The risk outweighs the reward, it is lose lose for Khan. Don’t make the fight.
