By Peter Wells: Tomorrow is to set up another 2 fascinating bouts between four great fighters. One will take place as the main event and for the International Boxing Federation super middleweight title; the other is for the IBF Lightweight title between two very good fighters.

First I’ll go to our main attraction, Lucian Bute is the champion and so far in his 24 fights as a professional. His challenger is looking for revenge after last October’s controversial victory. Bute was winning clearly, out boxing his opponent 109-99, 107-101 and 107-100 before Andrade knocked Bute down, and Lucian looked gone, but the referee gave an exceptionally long count to save Bute from being knocked out. Bute survived and took a unanimous decision. Since Lucian spectacularly knocked out tough Fulgencio Zuniga in 4 rounds, while Andrade Vitali Tsypko in an IBF eliminator. Librado has a respectful 28-2 record with 21 knockouts, his other defeat coming from Mikkel Kessler for Mikkel’s WBC and WBA Super Middleweight titles in 2007 losing every round.

This is his third shot at a world title, both his others were unsuccessful, while it is Lucian Bute’s 4th defence of his title, both fighters have plenty at stake and give us another fantastic fight. But this time we won’t see both fighters trading huge shots, instead expect a much more cautious approach from Bute and he should box his way to a simple and flawless win by a wide margin. Andrade would be able to go home a proud man, but unfortunately for him he just doesn’t have the edge to be a world champion in such a great division.

Another fight takes place on the same card, and to loyal boxing fans is a very intriguing bout. I honestly forgot about this fight due to it being swept under the rug, Boxing News weekly magazine don’t even have a preview for this fight and neither to Boxing Monthly or The Ring. Well now I can talk about two fighters who are of equal quality.

Last year we were all getting set up for a great bout between Joan Guzman who was coming up from Super Featherweight and Nate Campbell, but unfortunately Joan weighed in 3lbs over the weight limit and pulled out after trying to lose the extra pounds. The bad thing for Guzman is he hasn’t fought since last December which is 11 months ago, and that was a 12 rounder against unknown Ameth Diaz.

Ali Funeka hasn’t fought since February when he first came into the frame against the man Guzman failed to fight, Nate Campbell. This time Campbell failed to make the weight and only Ali could win the titles. But he didn’t losing a majority decision due to being floored twice; in a fight I felt should have gone to Funeka.

Funeka has a huge advantage in height, being 6ft 1in while Guzman is 6 inches smaller at 5ft 7in, this said Nate Campbell is only 5ft 7in but does have a 72in reach the same as Funeka, while Guzman only has a 68in reach. Guzman maybe unbeaten in 29 fights is still the older fighter at 33, but Ali has fought more times but has lost twice in 34 fights with 2 draws. His other defeat was to Mzonke Fana midway through his career. Funeka has been floored 4 times in his career while Guzman has never been down.

I’ll go for Guzman to get inside early and do what Campbell did and get his big punches in. I see Ali going down 2 times in the first half of the fight before fighting back to stop Guzman late on in maybe the 11th round. I don’t recon Joan will be floored but Funeka’s huge reach and height advantage with play a huge part in Guzman’s first defeat.
