Haye-Valuev: David is Looking Kind of Fat and Old

haye54342341By Scott Gilfoid: I sure hope for David Haye’s sake he doesn’t back out of anymore fights in the future and waste more of his career because he’s starting to look a little old to me judging from the recent video interviews of him. Not only that, Haye is starting to look a little fat around the jowls. Look at his face for a second and tell me that he doesn’t look as if he’s carrying around a good coat of fat. I hope he hasn’t been eating too many sweets in the year that he’s been off because he looked kind of fat to me.

By looking at Haye, I’d guess that he’s about 40-year-old. If I didn’t know he was 29, I’d swear I was looking at a forty-year-old. For those who aren’t aware already, Haye just finished flushing a year of his boxing career down the drain by getting “injured” weeks before his June 20th bout against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. There are some people who feel that Haye was never injured at all and just wanted to not take the fight with Klitschko for one reason or another.

Only Haye knows the real truth. Then, to make things worse, Haye then backed out of a fight with World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Haye said he didn’t like the terms of the deal. However, some people think that Haye was afraid to mix it up with the big 6’7″ steel chinned Klitschko. Whatever the case, Haye came out the loser by backing out on that fight because it meant even more time away from boxing. Haye is now 29, hasn’t fought in a year and it’s been a lot longer than that since Haye last fought a quality fighter.

You can loosely say that Monte Barrett, Haye’s last opponent in November was a top contender, but I don’t see it that way. I think the fight was worthless for Haye other than raising him up in the rankings. It didn’t help him grow as a fighter because Barrett did little in the fight and was more of a punching bag for Haye to look good against than a real threat to beat him in the fight. If Haye wanted to really impress people and grow as a fighter, he should have fought a top contender like Kevin Johnson or Odlanier Solis. But then again, those guys would probably beat Haye and that would have ruined his big shot a title.

So back to the way Haye is looking now. Man, the dude looks like he’s been aging something fierce. I wonder what has caused him to start looking old all of a sudden. Whatever it is, Haye needs to take it easy and start chilling a little so he can slow down the aging. While he’s at it, he needs to get a little stricter in his diet and focus on getting rid of those jowls on his cheeks. It looks like he’s been eating really good and not missing any meals. If Haye looks like this against Valuev, I think the big seven foot Russian will beat him. Valuev is starting to look a little old to at 36, but I think he looks younger than Haye now.
