mayweather434245By Amar J Khan: Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, perhaps this decade’s most skillful fighters in their own right. We have Mayweather, who is furious the public have forgotten his sensational victory over a prime Oscar De La Hoya whilst going up to 154. Mayweather believes Pacquiao received great credit for his victories over Oscar and Hatton, whilst he did not. Mayweather is nearing the end of his career. I would say his last fight will be against Manny Pacquiao and that fight will take place after Mayweather defeats Juan Manuel Marquez.

The question everyone is asking is why didn’t Mayweatgher go for Pacquiao straight away? Are people suggesting Mayweather is scared of being defeated? Let me ask you all something: If a fight would take place between the Mayweather and Pacquiao, will it take place at 147? In other words, Mayweather’s natural weight? Of course not because Pacquiao will never fight at that weight again.

It was an exception when Pacquiao fought De La Hoya, because Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, wanted it to happen. My personal opinion is Mayweather went for Marquez at 144 because he wants a tune up fight at that weight.

I would be willing to bet a heck of a lot of money that the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao will take place at 145, possibly lower. Both of these fighter’s biggest wins have come against two top fighters, the first being De La Hoya, and the second is Hatton. Both fighters, in their own style, easily brushed aside Hatton whichever way you look at it. Of course Pacquiao looked more impressive considering he did it at 140 and in two rounds, but Mayweather completely dominated Hatton as well.

Manny Pacquiao is now fighting a tough fighter like Hatton was in Miguel Cotto. Honestly, I promise you all that Pacquiao is going to make light work of Cotto. Mayweather, for his part, will beat Marquez. So who will win in a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao? It is pretty clear it’s going to be a classic Defense vs Offense fight. Mayweather will look for the tactical victory. While for Pacman to win, I believe he will have to do something nobody has done to Mayweather in a boxing match, knock him out.

Perhaps the deciding factor will be either the in and out body movement of Pacquiao or his south paw style. I personally think pressure is the key for Pacquiao. Hatton would have knocked down Mayweather had Floyd not had great balance due to pressure. This for me is the key to beating Mayweather, but at the same time I really do not think Pacquiao can pull it off. Look at the Marquez fight. Pacquiao got lazy at times and tailed off for stretches of the fight.

I honestly can see Pacquiao winning the first two rounds, maybe even getting a knock down. But during the middle stages, Mayweather will take control. Mayweather is looking to cement his legacy before he hangs up his boots; He knows for this to happen, he must take out the peoples champion, the Pacman. A little something for those who think I favour Pacman too much, because I think he will wipe the floor with Cotto on November 14th.
