Doomsday approaching for Dirrell

dirrell33454By Steven Wain: Well, it’s just under 1 month (26 days to be precise) until, Carl “The Cobra” Froch (25-0-20 KO’s) takes on overrated American Andre “The Matrix” Dirrell (18-0-13 KO’s) in the first round of the super six world boxing tournament, Froch will also be defending his WBC super middleweight title, which he won in 2008 when he beat Jean Pascal by unanimous point’s victory. The fight will take place at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham, England.

In my eyes Froch has had the easiest draw and should have no trouble winning this fight, he has the support of the home crowd, he’s been in with top fighters and knocked them out (just ask Jermain Taylor) he can take punches, has the heart of a lion, can fight on the back foot, can pressure fighters into mistakes, has a granite chin, need I say anymore?

Many of you might be irritated because I said “overrated American Andre “The Matrix” Dirrell” well let me explain. All this hype about Dirrell is well, bizarre the kid has had 18 fights and all 18 opponents were hand picked bums, just look at his record. I can understand winning 13 of 18 by knock out is pretty good, but against whom? He can be knocked down which isn’t a great start to fighting a powerful puncher like Froch and he still makes little mistakes, that against top fighters he will be punished for. He’s fast yes and obviously has a bit of power, but really is that enough when he comes up against a top athlete like Carl?

I love how Dirrell has been running his big mouth off about how he “prayed to get Froch first” and how he’s going to “dominate” him. These are certainly big words from someone who has no experience what so ever at the top level. Didn’t he see what happened to Taylor when he took Froch lightly asking “who’s Carl Froch”? Guess not. Well let me tell him Taylor got badly knocked out.

I expect Froch to easily win by KO in round 6 or 7, after dominating Dirrell and showing him what it’s really like to fight with the big boys. The best thing Dirrell can do is not show up because come October 17th he won’t want to get back in a boxer ring ever again in his life EVER!
