Fury vs. McDermott: Will the Heavyweight Sensation Beat John?

fury53258By Steven Wain: On September 11th the new heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury (7-0-7 KO’s) will face “Big Bad” John McDermott (25-5-16 KO’s) for the English heavyweight title at Brentwood England. Fury who is a 6ft 9 inch tall and who is considered by some as well as myself to be a heavyweight sensation, challenges McDermott in only his 8th fight. Fury has an excellent jab and extremely powerful right hand this being proven with his 100% KO ratio.

John McDermott who is the current English heavyweight champion has lost his last 2 fights to an old but wise Danny Williams once by a controversial split decision and once by a majority decision. McDermott in my eyes is an extremely poor boxer who would do better if he didn’t even turn up to fight Fury, never the less this is boxing and anything can happen in boxing.

If Fury throws his jabs, picks his punches like he has for his last 7 fights and keeps McDermott at range then I believe this fight could be over in a few rounds, however if Fury lets McDermott on the inside then Fury could come under some pressure, another worry I have about Fury is his stamina, if the fight was to go the full distance would Fury have enough for the later rounds having only ever been as far as round 4 in his short professional career.

All being well come September 11th there should be a new English heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.
