Cotto-Pacquiao: The Betting People Have It Wrong

By Manuel Perez: It was pretty funny reading how Manny Pacquiao is favored 2-1 over WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto by gamblers. Obviously, the bettors probably don’t have clue one about boxing and are just throwing their money away by putting it on Pacquiao rather than Cotto.

They’re looking at Pacquiao’s wins over Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, and figure that those are the biggest stars of the sport and falsely think that Pacquiao can do the same thing against a talented fighter in his prime. I’m not a betting man, but if I was, I’d a make mint on this fight by putting the deeds of my house on the line and betting it all on Cotto.

Manny Pacquiao Miguel Cotto

I’ll be here knowing I’m right and won’t lose a penny. Pacquiao only has one thing going for him in this fight and that’s his hand speed.

That’s nothing though. Cotto is probably going to squash him like a bug with his better power, timing, accuracy and defense.

I see fight like Custer’s last stand for Pacquiao. Roach must have had delusions of grandeur or something because Cotto is way off the map better than Pacquiao in my expert opinion. I suppose this will be a good thing because it will knock Roach down a peg when Pacquiao gets destroyed on November 14th. Pacquiao’s speed won’t help him in this fight because Cotto is going to swarm him, encircle him, and pick Pacquiao off with jabs and power shots.

Basically, Pacquiao will never have a chance in this fight and will be decimated by Cotto. And all those people that bet big money on Pacquiao will be sorry that they didn’t listen to me and heed my advice. You got to look at the whole picture when you look at Pacquiao.
