By Erik Schmidt: Undefeated light middleweight contender Alexander Abraham (25-0-1, 17 KOs) took out Magomed Abdurakhmanov (14-3, 7 KOs) in the 4th round at tonight at the Jako Arena, in Bamberg, Germany. Abraham, the younger brother of International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Arthur Abraham, had little problems with his spoon fed opponent, knocking him down once in the 2nd round with a big right hand and then finished Abdurakhmanov with a big right hand to the midsection in the 4th.

Abraham, ranked number #11 in the World Boxing Association and WBO, attacked Abdurakhmanov with combinations in the 1st and 2nd rounds, charging at him much in the same way that Abraham’s brother Arthur does with his opponents, only without nearly as much power.

Although not much of a puncher, Alexander Abraham was for stronger than Abdurakhmanov, who had next to no power on his own shots. Late in the 1st round, Abraham landed a hard left-right combination that staggered Abdurakhmanov. However, there wasn’t enough time left in the round for Abraham to add to the damage.

Abraham landed some really nice right hands in the round, as well as some hard left hooks. Abdurakhmanov also landed well with combination, but not nearly at the same rate as Abraham. It looked as if Abraham’s body shots caused Abdurakhmanov to back off and focus more on defense.

In the 2nd round, Abdurakhmanov attacked at the beginning of the round with lefts to the body and several hard jabs to the head. However, Abraham quickly began to land powerful right hands to the body, throwing them without a lead jab and finding good success at connecting.

Late in the round, Abraham connected with a big left uppercut that sent Abdurakhmanov down on the canvas. He quickly got up and immediately went on the attack to try and drive Abraham back. The round ended shortly after that.

Things were looking bad for Abdurakhmanov at this point because he was getting hit with a lot of hard body shots and right hooks and he didn’t seem to have the firepower to get Abraham off of him. Abdurakhmanov was cut on the right side of his nose in the round and his right cheek was swelling up as well.

In the 3rd round, the one-sided beating continued with Abraham hitting Abdurakhmanov at will with hooks and right hands. There wasn’t much being thrown back at Abraham, and he was able to do as he pleased without worrying about having to defend himself. Abdurakhmanov attacked Abraham at the beginning of the round, taking advantage of Abraham as he was coming forward trying to land.

However, Abraham quickly gained control of the round and resumed landing hard body shots with his right hand. As the round was nearing the close, Abraham landed several hard right hands to the head of Abdurakhmanov. It looked like only a matter of time before Abraham knocked Abdurakhmanov out, because the fight was now completely one-sided with Abraham inflicting a lot of punishment.

In the 4th round, Abraham went on the attack at the start of the round, landing several jabs and then a big right to the body that sent Abdurakhmanov backing up to the ropes and clutching his midsection in pain. The referee then stepped in and halted the fight at this point.

All in all, Abraham looked pretty good. He showed a lot of power with his punches, especially his left hook and right to the body. With this win, Abraham could be going after the European title next and would be looking at facing Jamie Moore.
