murray463434By Nate Anderson: Undefeated middleweight prospect Martin Murray (14-0, 5 KOs) was too much for Kevin Concepcion (14-2, 3 KOs), knocking him down three times in the process of stopping him in the 3rd round on Friday night at the Indoor Sports Centre, Leigh, in Lancashire. The bout was stopped at the start of the 3rd round due to a cut above the right eye of Conception that had opened up late in the previous round. Referee Steve Gray officially stopped the bout at 0:01 of the 3rd.

In the 1st round, Murray, 26, dropped Conception with a right to the head with 30 seconds left in the round. Not long after, Murray knocked him down again, landing a hard left to the body. Conception got up and was hit one more time with another left hook to the body as the round ended.

Murray continued to dominate the action in the 2nd, landing well with right hands to the head and body. Murray would catch up to Conception again and stagger him with a right hand and then put him down with a left hook. Conception got up and took a pounding for the remainder of the round as Murray teed off on him with big shot.

In the final seconds of the round, a cut opened up over the fight eye of Conception. In between rounds, Conception’s corner attempted to stop the blood from flowing from the huge cut but it was no use. At the start of the next round, the referee stopped the action at the start of the round and stopped the bout at 0:01 of the 3rd.
