taylor4562437458By Eric Thomas: ITV will be showing the Jermain Taylor vs. Carl Froch WBC super middleweight title fight, albeit in a delayed broadcast on Sunday night. The bout will be shown on ITV4 at 8:30 PM on Sunday, making it less than 24 hours after the fight takes place. Hopefully, this satisfies some of the angry British boxing fans who had previously been unhappy that the fight wasn’t picked up by local cable television stations. The fight will be on free TV, so there won’t be any added cost to the fans who want to see the fight.

This will be Froch’s first defense of his WBC super middleweight title that he won in December with a 12-round decision over Jean Pascal. Froch, 31, is an underdog going to this fight and will be traveling to Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, to face the dangerous Taylor.

The bout comes down to the speed of Taylor vs. the power and pressure of Froch. Taylor has a lot of advantages going into this fight, starting with his hand speed and superior experience.

Although Taylor isn’t quite as fast as Pascal, he’s a much better boxer and punches with better form and power than the Canadian based Pascal. Froch barely got by Pascal, beating him by a narrow 12-round decision. Froch is going to have to be much better than that if he plans on defeating Taylor this Saturday night.

Andre Ward Picks Taylor to Beat Froch

Well, it seems that Carl Froch (24-0, 19 KOs) has another fighter choosing against him as number #2 ranked WBO super middleweight contender Andre Ward (18-0, 12 KOs) is picking Jermain Taylor to beat Froch this Saturday night in Connecticut. Ward, 25, thinks that it will come down to Taylor’s superior speed and experience in him winning the fight.

Ward thinks it will be a close fight, however, but that Taylor will prevail largely due to his hand speed. Ward gives credit to Froch for traveling to the U.S. to take the fight rather than sitting at home in the UK and making title defenses.

Ward will be facing Edison Miranda on May 16th at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. This will be a very dangerous fight for Ward, who is making a step up in competition as he readies himself for a title challenge against one of the four super middleweight champions Karoly Balzsay, Lucian Bute, Mikkel Kessler and the winner of Froch vs. Taylor.
