Image: Wilder vs. Price: Deontay gets chance to show off his improvement from camp with WladimirBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) will be fighting for the first time on December 15th after helping out IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko get ready for his recent fight against Marisuz Wach. Wilder came over to help Wladimir and was just one of many sparring partners he had in the camp.

Wilder emerged as the top guy and he really helped out Wladimir in this camp. But it wasn’t just Wilder helping Wladimir. Wilder learned a great deal from sparring with the 6’6″ Wladimir for three weeks day after day. With the camp behind him, Wilder will now be able to show off what he learned for his Showtime televised fight against unbeaten 6’7″ Kelvin Price (13-0, 6 KO’s) on December 15th at the LA Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Wilder will be on the same card as the Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina fight, and this is going to give Wilder a great opportunity for him to be seen by people from all over the U.S, as well as Canada. He’s going to be able to make a lot of fans in one night, and possibly more than he’s already built up thus far with his fights sometimes being televised on ESPN. It’s a big jump from ESPN to Showtime, and this is going to give the talented Wilder more exposure.

Wilder’s power will likely bring a quick end to the Price fight in one or two rounds at best, but I’m hoping Wilder will get a chance to show off his jab and left hook a little before he lowers the boom on Price. The thing is Wilder’s left hook has gotten so good that he can knock his opponents out with that weapon now, and his jab is almost as good as Wladimir’s. It’s like a power punch and he can control fights with it. If Price can somehow take Wilder’s big power shots, then we may be get to see some of the things that Wilder got from his time working with Wladimir.
