By Dan Ambrose: The SuperFly 2 card is now set for February 24 with WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defending his title in the main event against mandatory challenger Juan Francisco Estrada at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

HBO World Championship Boxing will once again be televising the SuperFly card.

This is a great match-up between the heavy-handed Rungvisai (44-4-1, 40 KOs) from Thailand, and Estrada (36-2, 25 KOs). Rungvisai, 31, comes into the fight with back to back big wins over Roman Gonzalez. Estrada beat Carlos Cuadras in his last fight. The winner of this fight could be on his way to becoming a star for HBO. Rungvisai is already seen by many in boxing as the replacement for Roman Gonzalez as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport. HBO is lucky to have found Rungvisai to step into the fading Gonzalez’s shoes.

The televised undercard fights for SuperFly2 are as follows:

Carlos Cuadras vs. McWilliams Arroyo This is a fight that should have plenty of excitement. Cuadras (36-2-1, 27 KOs) is a former WBC super flyweight champion, who is coming off of a narrow 12 round unanimous decision to Juan Francisco Estrada at SuperFly 1 on September 9. Cuadras has lost 2 out of his last 3 fights. Besides losing to Estrada last September, Cuadras was also beaten by Roman Gonzalez a year ago in September 2016 in a 12 round decision defeat. Cuadras gave Gonzalez all he could handle in that fight, and left him badly lumped up about the face. Cuadras vs. Arroyo is the co-feature bout on the Rungvisai-Estrada card. Arroyo (16-3, 14 KOs) is a 2008 Olympian from Puerto Rico. Arroyo is coming into the fight with Cuadras having lost 2 out of his last 3 fights to Roman Gonzalez and IBF World flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng. Those were both title shots for Arroyo in coming up short in both cases. Gonzalez dominated in beating him by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision last year in April 2016. Arroyo hasn’t fought since. By the time Arroyo faces Cuadras on February 24, he’ll have been ou of the ring for almost 2 years. If you want to put a positive spin on Arroyo being out of the ring for 22 months, you can say that the 32-year-old Arroyo will be well-rested by the time he gets inside the ring to fight Cuadras.

Brian Viloria vs. Artem Dalakian – This shapes up to be a hard fight for the 37-year-old former 2 division world champion Viloria (38-5, 23 KO) against #4 IBF, #13 WBO Dalakian (15-0, 11 KOs). The 30-year-old Dalakian, who comes from Baku, Azerbaijan, is 7 years younger than Viloria, and he’s fighting on a really high level right now. Dalakian has knocked out his last 4 opponents dating back to 2015. He has reason knockout wins over Luis Manuel Macias, Jozef Ajtai, Silvio Olteanu and Robert Kanalas. Viloria has won his last 2 fights against Ruben Montoya and Miguel Cartagena. Before that, he was stopped by Roman Gonzale in the 9th round in October 2015. Viloria was also beaten by Juan Francisco Estrada in 2013. The good news is Viloria has won 5 out of his last 6 fights since 2014, and he’s still fighting at a high level despite him nearing 40 now.

Former 4 division world champion Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez WON’T be fighting on the SuperFly2 card on February 24. Chocolatito could be in action on the undercard of the Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin rematch on May 5 on HBO PPV. Gonzalez’s name has been mentioned in connection with that card. It’s a good thing for Gonzalez if he doesn’t fight on the SuperFly 2 card, because it might difficult for him considering he’s coming off of 2 defeats at the hands of Rungvisai.
