By Allan Fox: On December 1st, unbeaten former International Boxing Federation (IBF) lightweight champion Paul Spadafora (46-0-1, 19 KO’s) battles the tough Solomon Egberime (22-3-1, 11 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort, Chester, West Virginia.

Spadafora, #11 WBA, #17 WBC in the light welterweight division, has fought only once in the past two years, beating journeyman Humberto Toledo by an 8 round unanimous decision last August. Spadafora looked decent for a fighter who hadn’t seen a lot of action in the last few years, but he also didn’t look good enough to worry any of the top fighters at 140.

Spadafora, now 37, has lost too many years and he doesn’t have the power to beat the best guys at light welterweight. It’s too bad he can’t move back down to 135 lbs, because he’s much better off at that weight than he is at 140.

Danny Green vs. Shane Cameron on November 21st

39-year-old former WBA light heavyweight champion Danny Green (32-5, 28 KOs) will be fighting heavyweight Shane Cameron (29-2, 22 KOs) on November 21st for the vacant International Boxing Organization cruiserweight title at the Hisense Arena, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This is a fight that the 35-year-old Cameron has wanted for a long time and he’s only now getting the fight with Green not quite what he once was.

That’s kind of an understatement, as Green has lost two out of his last three fights in defeats against Antonio Tarver and Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Part of the problem for Green is that before those two fights he had been feasting on mostly weak opposition since making his comeback in 2009. The exception was BJ Flores, but that fight was less thrilling because Flores spent most of the bout moving and looking defensive.

Cameron appears to be fighting on a higher level right now with wins over Monte Barrett and Dominic Vea recently. Cameron has looked good and powerful. He stopped Barrett in the 4th round last July and that takes good power to take out Barrett that early in his fights.
