Richard Towers says Fury will shock Joshua

By Max Seitelman: Richard Towers predicts a win for Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua in their massive heavyweight showdown coming up in June or July.

Towers says Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) will be ready to pull off another shocker similar to what he did last year against Deontay Wilder.

According to Towers, if IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) isn’t in top form against Fury, he’ll surely lose the fight.

Lately, Joshua is looking better than ever, beating his IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev last December, and avenging his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in December 2019.

Fury might be the one that will need to be firing on all cylinders if he doesn’t want to be exposed as another one-hit-wonder.

Against Wilder, Fury looked superb, but that’s just one fight, and he was facing a guy he had a big weight advantage over. Joshua’s weight will be at least someone closer to that of Fury’s.

Tyson Fury will pull off another shocker

“I think everything suggests that Tyson can get in with everybody after his fight with Deontay,” said Richard Towers to iFL TV when asked how Fury will do against Anthony Joshua.

“If he can take that to the table against Deontay, just think what he can do against Joshua. That’s not by any means dismissing what Joshua can do because we all know Joshua is big, he’s strong, he’s experienced, and he’s got the amateur.

“I think it’ll be a good fight for as long as it lasts. I think Tyson will pull another shocker out of the bag; and Tyson has got all the bells and whistles, and he knows how to play them.

“Again, if Joshua isn’t firing all top form, Tyson is going to expose that. That’s not me sitting on the fence; that’s me being realistic,” said Towers.

It’s going to be more difficult for Fury to pull off a shocker against Joshua than it was against Wilder because he got the speed, size, and boxing skills to handle Tyson.

With the rail-thin 231-pound Wilder, he was too thin to contend with the 270+ lb Fury on the night.

Fury will do a number on Joshua

“Tyson at the moment is the only heavyweight that offers a variety of different things,” said Towers. With Tyson, you just never know what you’re going to get.

“I think Tyson is going to shock the world again because he’s got momentum now, and he’s got confidence in his ability.

“And I think he always has, but that just grows and grows as time goes on. Tyson has been busy. One of the things that stands out predominately for me is the battle he’s overcome regarding his own demons in regards to his own issues.

“He’s come through that and gives a shining example of what it means to put your teeth together and really grind it out.

“Now, I think there’s a little bit too much momentum with Tyson, and I think he’ll do a number on Joshua. But as long as Joshua is in there, I think he’ll offer more variety than what we’ve seen because he has to.

“You know yourself; if you get in with someone a few levels lower than you, you seem to lower your standard of boxing. If you get in with someone that is higher, it forces you to up your game.

“So I think it’ll be a good fight. It’ll be one to watch, and I’ll definitely be watching,” said Towers on the Joshua vs. Fury fight.

Fury needs to start working on losing weight because he looked out of shape in the recent beach video he posted on his social media site.

That rounded potbelly that Fury is sporting right now will target Joshua’s punches on the night.
