By Allan Fox: Unbeaten contender Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) could wind up with American heavyweights Deontay Wilder and Ray Austin as sparring partners to help get him ready for his bout against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 51 KO’s) on November 10th at the O2 World Arena, Altona, Hamburg, Germany. The 32-year-old Wach badly needs some larger heavyweights that are close to the same height and reach of the 6’6″ Wladimir.

In choosing the 6’7″ Wilder and the 6’6″ Austin, Wach can’t go wrong with either of them. However, neither Wilder or Austin fight anything like Wladimir in terms of their fighting styles, so Wach may not get as much from using Austin and Wilder as he might like. For it them to be useful to him, Wach’s team would have to make sure that they could have Wilder and Austin closely mimic the way that Wladimir fights if possible.

That’s going to be hard because Wladimir has an Eastern European style of fighting that’s not easy to copy unless you’ve come from that background. For Wilder, it might be especially difficult because he doesn’t have much of a jab and he doesn’t throw left hooks like Wladimir. What Wilder does have is a great right hand that can definitely approximate the kind of power that Wladimir will be punching with against Wach on November 10th. But even that punch is a lot different from the right hands that Wladimir typically throws.

Wladimir tends to throw straight rights that seem as if they’re on a straight line from his shoulder straight to the target. With Wilder, he has a habit of throwing big looping right hands that use a different route to get to their targets. However, Wilder’s right hands still get to their target in a real hurry due to his fast hand speed.

Wach needs a lot of help for this fight, because he’s considered a long shot to beat the 36-year-old Wladimir. Wach is going to have to find a way to land his big right hand shots before Wladimir is able to obliterate him with his own right hands. It’s going to be a race against time for Wach, because unless he can get to Wladimir quickly in this fight then he’s going to end up getting knocked out himself.
