Kelvin Price a very tough opponent for Deontay Wilder

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) is taking on a really good fighter in unbeaten 6’7″ Kelvin Price (13-0, 6 KO’s) on December 15th at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Price reminds me a lot of a heavyweight version of Roy Jones Jr. with his fighting style. He’s got really fast hands, a nice left hook, and great jab.

Price isn’t a huge puncher, but he’s respectable power with his sneaky left hook. He totally dominated Tor Hamer, who is a very good heavyweight. I rate Price as being a better heavyweight than Tyson Fury. I don’t see him as being as good as David Price, but I definitely see him as a better heavyweight than Fury because of his defense and quick hands.

If Wilder can KO Kelvin Price it will be saying a lot about his talent because the 6’7″ Price is as slippery as an eel. He’s almost impossible to hit because he backs away at the slightest hint of aggression from his opponents. Wilder is going to have to really come at him and look to bomb him out with fast right hands, because Price will make it very difficult for Wilder to land his power shots in this fight.

If there’s one heavyweight in the entire division that Wilder might not be able to KO it’s Price, because he dances around so much and is so focused on his defense. Price likes to throw a flicking jab that he throws from the hip. The jab is good, but Wilder could could come over the top and brain him with a right hand if Price fights like that against him because it leaves his head open.

Price also likes to keep his left hand down by his side kind of like Carl Froch, and that’s not going to work for him against Wilder. If Price’s reflexes aren’t razor quick, he’s going to get hit with a lot of right hands from Wilder in this fight, and the thing is it only takes one big right hand from Wilder to finish him. Wilder is the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division right now, and Price is going to have to run for the full 10 rounds for him to survive.
