Adamek-Klitschko, Barker-Martinez, Brook-Jackiewicz, Froch-Ward all on Sky

By Sean McDaniel: Sky Sports has four very interesting bouts that they plan on showing between September and October with perhaps the biggest fight being the October 29th Super Six final between WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch vs. WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward. That’s going to be a real tasty fight with a lot of back and forth action.

In other fights shown by Sky, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko faces Polish challenger Tomasz Adamek on September 10th in Poland. The fight will be the 7th title defense of the 40-year-old Vitali, who will be taking on arguably his best challenger since he captured the World Boxing Council belt in 2008.

Former two-time world champion Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26 KO’s) fights Darren Barker (23-0, 14 KO’s) on October 1st at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Martinez has a big power and experience advantage over the 29-year-old Barker. It’s going to be very tough for Barker to find a way to win this fight because he hasn’t been in with fighters even close to being as good as Martinez. Barker also has leaky defense and that’s going to make it difficult for him to be able to take the heavy shots from the hard hitting Martinez now that he’s sitting down on his punches.

Number #2 ranked WBO welterweight contender Kell Brook (24-0, 16 KO’s) fights number #11 ranked World Boxing Organization contender Rafal Jackiewicz (38-9-1, 19 KO’s) on October 8th in a WBA welterweight title eliminator fight at the Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire. Brook, 25, wants a title shot against champion Manny Pacquiao. That’s probably not going to happen because Pacquiao is mainly interested in taking on big names. However, Brook will be at the top when Pacquiao does eventually relinquish his WBO belt. Jackiewicz is an experienced fighter but without much power or speed. He’s going to have problems with Brook but will make it tough with his good chin. He should give Brook a decent test before losing.
