By Liam Santiago: British Promoter, Frank Warren, has claimed in an interview at boxing news online that Heavyweight, David Haye, did not have a back problem, but had issues with Setanta over money. Warren said: ‘He had a Setanta problem. He asked for the money up front and they wouldn’t pay him. I know that for a fact.’ However, Warren does not promote Haye. Read the rest of this entry »
Ricky Hatton vs Amir Khan is on the cards

Although his defeats were brutal he has stated that he is tempted to step back in the ring for one last super-fight against Amir Khan. Chagaev Looked Good Enough to Beat Haye
By Chris Williams: While Ruslan Chagaev (25-1-1, 17 KOs) may not have landed too many punches on Saturday night against Wladimir Klitschko, I saw enough of Chagaev to get the impression that he looked more than good enough to beat British heavyweight David Haye. Chagaev showed a great chin, an excellent ability to block punches against the towering 6’7″ Klitschko. Read the rest of this entry »
Klitschko Stops Chagaev, Looks Timid
By Dave Lahr: Count me in as one of those people who weren’t in the least bit impressed with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s 9th round stoppage victory over Ruslan Chagaev (25-1-1, 17 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. This was supposed to be a fight where Wladimir (53-3, 47 KO’s) was looking to come out with more offense to impress his critics and the American cable company HBO, who decided they didn’t want to waste money showing the Chagaev-Wladimir bout. Lee Defeats Fedotovs; Banks Stops Butlin, Ustinov Beats Sprott – Boxing Results
By William Mackay: Once again, middleweight prospect Andy Lee (18-1, 13 KOs) failed to look impressive, this time in defeating Latvian Olegs Fedotovs (10-6, 6 KOs) by a six round unanimous decision Saturday night on the undercard of the IBF/WBO heavyweight title match between Wladimir Klitschko and challenger Ruslan Chagaev at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Wladimir Klitschko – Why do People Pay to Watch this Guy?
By Axel Bowen-Dale: I find it extremely hard to respect Wladimir Klitschko, and I know I’m not the only one. There is no questioning his ability as a boxer, the man is a brilliant fighter. But how many punchbags does this guy have to knockout before people realize this guy is getting payed millions to barely break a sweat. The guys he’s fighting are nothing more than overweight punchbags. Read the rest of this entry »
A Round-by-Round Wrap-up of the Klitschko-Chagaev Championship Fight
By Brock Kaiser: In what little we saw of the pre-fight ceremonies, we learned that Klitschko was in a serious mood and came ready to fight as evident by both his expression and the fact that he played very little to the crowd. (Also something his detractors would suggest often carried over with him into the ring.) We also learned that although Germans can fill a stadium (the sellout crowd was the biggest boxing audience in the country since Max Schmeling fought Adolf Heuserin in 1939) they apparently have trouble with amplification as parts of Klitschko’s national anthem cut out during its playing. Klitschko wins the Ring magazine belt by way of 9th round TKO
By Sam Gregory – Tonight there were four belts on the line as Wladimir Klitschko (52-3 with 46 KO’s) fought undefeated Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1 with 17 KO’s) for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
Commentators said the 60,000 seat soccer area was sold out for this fight.
Going into this fight I expected Klitschko to be his usual paw and hold style of fighting but tonight I have to say Klitschko did give a better performance than I expected. Read the rest of this entry »

By Jim Dower: Making his first fight at light heavyweight, Jean Pascal (23-1, 15 KO’s) dominated World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Adrian Diaconu (26-1, 15 KO’s) on Friday night, handing Diaconu his first loss of his career at the bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Pascal, 26, knocked Diaconu down with a huge left hook in the 5th round. Chagaev-Klitschko: Look For Ruslan to Score a Shocking Knockout
By Dave Lahr: With the IBF/WBO title match just hours away between champion Wladimir Klitschko and challenger Ruslan Chagaev, I think this is as good a time any to chime in with my pre-fight prediction on tonight’s bout at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Now, I really like the technical boxing skills and the size advantage that the big 6’6” Klitschko possesses in this fight, but I foresee an upset in this fight with Chagaev, 30, scoring a knockout. By William Mackay: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Kitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s) won his arbitration case with the WBC yesterday, meaning that Vitali can now fight pretty much whoever he wants next. Instead of fighting WBC mandatory challenger Oleg Maskaev, which is what the WBC wanted Klitschko to fight next, he can now select a more lucrative bout against someone like David Haye or Chris Arreola next. Hatton vs. Khan: Could Amir Be Next For Ricky?
By William Mackay: As of now, former IBF light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) is being quiet about what his future plans might be but he sounds as if he still plans on fighting based on his interview yesterday in which Hatton said “a comeback fight in Cardiff is not off the cards.” It’s doubtful that Hatton being the proud warrior that he is would want to go out the way he did in his last fight against Manny Pacquiao in May, losing by a 2nd round knockout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vitali Interested in Fighting Haye in September – News
By Eric Thomas: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is reportedly interested in meeting former cruiserweight champion David Haye in September, according to the BBC. And Haye, 28, is also interested in making the fight happen. This time hopefully, Haye’s back won’t break down on him to prevent the fight from taking place. It would be a good idea for Haye to try and fight through the pain should he experience another issue with his back, because he might not continue to get chances if he has reoccurring cancellations. What’s My Beef with Floyd Mayweather Jr.?
By Joel Nepomuceno: Everyone knows him. When he retired from the sport of boxing, he was on top, undefeated, considered the number #1 Pound for Pound kingpin. He was called out more during his retirement than when he was active. True boxing fans have argued his place among the All Time Greats. Casual fans either love him or hate him. Even non-boxing fans like my own mom knows him from his mainstream crossover. Read the rest of this entry »
Ruslan vs Klitschko: The Showdown or the Snoredown?
By Eric Hernandez: Well here we go again another Heavyweight fight fought in Germany with little fanfare. On the bright side this fight should easily live up to the hype when you consider that there was almost no hype going into this fight. If this fight was an earthquake in North America it would barely move your mother’s fine china in the dining room. Having gotten the negatives out of the way I will try to attempt to make some sense of this fight. Read the rest of this entry »

Mayweather: Is the Hype Justified or is it Just Hype?
By Eric Torres: How will Floyd Mayweather Jr. be remembered? I ask you this question openly and without any bias. I ask you to ask yourself the question: Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. as good as he claims he is, or is his image as an invincible fighter and one that cannot be beat, a product of our imaginations due to his own hype machine? I can’t answers this question for you, but I can tell you my opinion. Read the rest of this entry »
Paul Williams: How come Cotto, Mayweather, Mosley, and Pacquiao Won’t Fight Him?
By Jason Kim: It’s so sad that the one welterweight that none of the so-called best welterweights in the division like Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather, won’t fight Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KO‘s). Nowadays when you hear Williams’ name mentioned as an opponent for any of those fighters or Manny Pacquiao, people say, ‘Williams isn’t a welterweight, so why should they fight him?’ Read the rest of this entry »
Wladimir Fights Chagaev on Saturday – Does Anyone Care?
Photo courtesy of Klitschko.com – By Matt Stein: Another fight for Wladimir Klitschko against another opponent that hardly a soul cares about. In this case, Wladimir’s latest victim is Ruslan Chagaev, a heavyweight that has rarely found his way into a ring in the past two years due to one malady or another. It’s hard to believe that Klitschko, 33, has been a heavyweight champion of the IBF for the past three years because his fights and especially his opponents have been very forgettable. Hatton Needs to Put His Training Wheels On And Start Over
By Chris Williams: If you look at the mess of that Ricky Hatton has made of his once promising career on the past two years, with his two losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, it becomes clear that Hatton’s primitive caveman style of fighting has to go immediately if he wants to make a comeback. Since Hatton failed rather miserably in his attempts to learn under the tutelage of great trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., it looks as if it’s going to take someone a little more strict and confrontational than Mayweather Sr., to unlearn Hatton of his primitive style of fighting.
