Sergio Martinez destroys Matthew Macklin!

By Jim Dower: WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KO’s) stopped Ireland’s Matthew Macklin (28-4, 19 KO’s) in the 11th round on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. Martinez, 37, knocked a tired and hurt Macklin down twice in the 11th round with big left hand shots. Brook beats Hatton but unable to stop him

By William Mackay: Matthew Hatton got a minor victory tonight by being able to survive 12 rounds against undefeated Kell Brook in losing by a 12 round decision at the Motorpoint Arena in front of a huge pro-Brook crowd of 9000 fans. Hatton was expected to be stopped by Brook by many boxing experts and it sure looked like he was on his way to being stopped in the last four rounds of the fight, but Hatton did his best to hang on in the literal sense to last the full 12. Undersized Proksa badly exposed by Kerry Hope

By William Mackay: Previously unbeaten now former EBU middleweight champion Grzegorz Proksa (26-1, 19 KO’s) was beaten by 30-year-old little known challenger Kerry Hope (17-3, 1 KO’s) by a 12 round majority decision last Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The final judges’ scores were 115-112 and 114-113 for Hope, and 114-114 even. Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Brandon Rios in the works for July 14th

Indeed, it was a tough fight for the 37-year-old Martinez, because he was knocked down in the 7th and took a lot of punches in the first seven rounds before going into overdrive and dominating a fading Macklin until knocking him down twice in the 11th. Prediction: Hatton to get stopped by Brook

Khan to train alongside Pacquiao in the Philippines to get ready for Peterson rematch

By William Mackay: Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) will depart for the Philippines next month to start training with trainer Freddie Roach to get ready for his May 19th rematch against IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Glazkov stops Orlov

By Jim Dower: Undefeated heavyweight prospect and former 2008 super heavyweight Olympian from Ukraine Vyacheslav Glazkov (11-0, 8 KO’s) registered his eighth knockout with a 5th round stoppage of 6’9″ 300+ Evegeny Orlov on Friday night at the Circus, in Krasnodar, Russia. Glazkov, 27, hurt the rounded Orlov with a right to the body in the 5th round that caused Orlov to wince and briefly turn his back in pain.
