Zab Judah to face Paulie Malignaggi on December 7th in New York

malig56By Allan Fox: Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) will be facing Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) on December 7th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to Showtime’s Al Bernstein. On the undercard will be welterweights Keith Thurman vs. Jesus Soto Karass. There’s no word about Amir Khan battling Devon Alexander, so you have to assume that we won’t be seeing that fight any time soon.

Judah-Malignaggi pits too fighters coming off of losses and in need of a big win. Malignaggi lost his WBA title to Adrien Broner last June by a much disputed 12 round split decision in Brooklyn, New York. Judah lost to to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia by a narrow 12 round unanimous decision last April.

Khan vs. Alexander & Judah vs. Malignaggi possible for December 7th

malig77By Allan Fox: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is hoping to put together a double-header between Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander, and Zab Judah vs. Paulie Malignaggi on December 7th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to RingTV.

There’s also the possibility that former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz could be on the card against an opponent still to be determined if Schaefer can persuade Ortiz to agree to fighting on that date. Ortiz hasn’t fought since June of 2012 due to a broken jaw.

Schafer said to RingTV “Zab Judah against Paulie Malignaggi…we will have to see if that could be done…Zab’s goal is to get another big fight

Would fight fans watch? Judah v Malignaggi

malig55By Boxing Muse: Golden Boy and Zab Judah team up in a co-promotional deal which means the former two weight world champion will continue his career at the age of 35 with big fights on the horizon.

Although Brooklyn’s Judah lost his last bout to WBC, WBA & The Ring Light Welterweight champion Danny Garcia, in defeat he displayed a side to him that we as fight fans had not seen; pure determination and heart. Zab has always possessed the skills a boxer could wish for but in his younger days lacked the maturity produce the best performances from his undeniable ability.

The link up with Golden Boy Promotions will help Judah get the most out of the twilight of his career, given that Golden Boy promotes a majority of the talent around light-welter and welterweight.

Zab Judah signs with Golden Boy Promotions

zab judahBy Dan Ambrose: The soon to be 36-year-old Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) has signed with Golden Boy Promotions to have his fights co-promoted. This potentially good news for boxing fans, because it gives Golden Boy another player to match against their 140 and 147 pounders.

You can bet Judah will be in their one of them very soon. I think perhaps the best fight for Judah right now is former WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. That would be an idea fight, because both guys are coming off of losses.

You can’t put in with another world champion right now, because it doesn’t make a lot of sense until he redeems himself somehow. Judah lost his last fight to WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Danny Garcia last April in a 12 round unanimous decision loss.

Danny Garcia vs. Zab Judah 2 possible for October

garcia5645(Danny Garcia seen here looking stunned right after watching Lucas Matthysse destroy Lamont Peterson by a 3rd round TKO last May)By Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) is saying there’s a good chance that he’ll be fighting WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KO’s) in a rematch in October rather than fighting WBC interim light welterweight champion.

This is pretty surprising and not surprising at the same time. It’s surprising because Garcia was supposed to be fighting interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer had been working on trying to make that fight recently.

Judah said this when asked by thaboxingvoice if he will be facing Garcia in October: “There’s a good possibility.”

Matthysse vs. Garcia & Peterson vs. Judah possible for September 7th in Washington, DC

matthysse4By Allan Fox: Dan Rafael of ESPN is reporting that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is reserving September 7th for a doubleheader matching WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia vs. WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse in the main event and Zab Judah vs. IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson as the co-feature in a bout at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

The fight card would be interesting one where Judah is coming off of a loss to Danny Garcia, and Peterson is coming off of a knockout loss to Matthysse earlier tonight in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Judah wants Mayweather-Guerrero winner and/or Garcia rematch

judah43By Eric Thomas: Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) isn’t discouraged at all about getting beaten by WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night in New York.

Judah reportedly wants to fight the winner of this Saturday’s fight between Floyd Mayweather and Robert “The Ghost’ Guerrero. Judah has lost two out of his last three fights, and that would make it kind of a tough sell to have him fighting the winner of the Mayweather-Guerrero fight.

A Look Back On Last Weekend’s Boxing

03(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Shane Newsome: After a highly entertaining week of boxing from a number of counties including three world title fights and a number of our favorite boxers in action, its easy to get lost in the hype and lose track of what is really happening out there so here is your impartial look back on Saturday 27th April 2013 in the world of boxing.

And we start our journey in Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK and the main event Amir Khan (28-3) vs Julio Diaz (40-8-1) here was another night that Bolton’s Amir Khan should have made easy work of a lesser opponent though instead we had ourselves yet another night of hearts beating, on the edge of our seats watching a technically sound offensive boxer holding on for dear life after being caught time and time again through defensive frailties.

Judah: Matthysse punches harder than Danny Garcia

garcia3By Allan Fox: Now having fought both Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) and Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KO’s), Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) says that Matthysse is the harder puncher of the two. Judah points out that Matthysse can punch hard with both hands, not just his left hand like Danny Garcia. Judah lost to Garcia last night by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-111, 114-112 and 115-112 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After the fight, Judah said “Danny punches nothing like Lucas. He punches hard with either hand. It’s crazy I beat him.”
