Judah-Malignaggi: Battle in Brooklyn this Saturday

08 Malignaggi_Hopkins_Judah IMG_0676(Photo credit: Casino/Showtime) By Timothy Medina: This Saturday at the Barclays Center a battle between two Brooklyn natives will be taking place. The two fighters clashing for supremacy of the borough are Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s). Redemption is what they both seek after coming off losses earlier this year. This bout is likely to be exciting and memorable especially for New Yorkers yet, it is unlikely that a victory for either fighter this Saturday will earn them a mega-fight in 2014.

Last April 27th, Judah fought Danny Garcia for his WBA/WBC light welterweight straps. “Super” Judah was not so super against the young champion from Philadelphia. Garcia controlled the tempo of the fight from rounds one through nine and even sent Judah to the canvas in round eight. Judah was hanging on for dear life, trying to stick around for all twelve rounds. It was clear Garcia had already won the fight. However, Judah placed an exclamation point on the ending stages of the fight as he all of a sudden came to life.

Judah: I’m going to knock Malignaggi out

judah33By Dan Ambrose: Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) have been playing it nice with one another in the build up to their fight for weeks, but now they’re finally ready to battle it out on Saturday night at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Judah says he’s going to KO Malignaggi and finish his career as an active fighter. Judah wants to send Malignaggi back to Showtime where he works as a boxing analyst.

Judah said “These are the old Roman days. Only thing different is I can’t behead him, so I’m going to knock him out. After this, he’s going to be a full-time announcer.”

Malignaggi looking past Judah fight, wants Broner rematch or Maidana

malignaggi46By Dan Ambrose: Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) has what should be a really tough fight on his hands this Saturday night against Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. This is a toss up fight where Malignaggi could very well lose if Judah brings his best ‘A’ game to the fight.

Malignaggi is looking past the Judah fight already towards a rematch he wants against WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner, who defeated him last June to take his title by a 12 round split decision. Malignaggi also is interested in facing Marcos Maidana, Broner’s December 14th opponent, if Maidana defeats Broner. Malignaggi wants his WBA title back, in other words.

“I want that Broner vs. Maidana winner,” Malignaggi said.

Judah faces Malignaggi this Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY

1525By Dan Ambrose: Two former world champions Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) will step inside the ring this Saturday night to face off on Showtime at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. There won’t be a major world title on the line for this fight, because both guys are coming off of close 12 round decision defeats in their previous fights. However, the vacant NABF welterweight title will be up for grabs for this one, but I’m not sure that’s an appealing belt for them because it doesn’t carry the same weight that the major title straps do.

The real Paulie and the reel Paulie

malig77By Mike Stafford: It will be a unique doubleheader for fans of Paulie Malignaggi on December 7. That evening, in one of New York’s most anticipated matches, Malignaggi will square off against fellow Brooklynite Zab Judah at the Barclays Center in a bout that will be televised by Showtime.

But earlier in the day, Malignaggi fans can see the former welterweight champ make his feature film debut as the star of “Omerta: Act of Silence,” which will have it’s New York premiere at the Shadow Box Film Festival at 2 p.m. at the SVA Theatre on West 23rd street.

“We all strive to do things and set goals for ourselves that are a challenge” said Malignaggi of his foray into acting. “Being an athlete and a fighter was a challenge in and of itself. I know that can’t last forever. So there was a curiosity to try something else.”

Judah and Malignaggi fight it out on December 7th on Showtime

judah65By Dan Ambrose: Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) will be facing each other on Showtime on December 7th in a battle for relevancy at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. There won’t be any titles on the line because both guys are coming off of losses. This is all about trying to stay relevant for both of them.

Judah was beaten in his last fight by Danny Garcia last April, and Malignaggi was beaten last June by Adrien Broner. Malignaggi and Judah are both good fighters, but it’s difficult to imagine either of them winning another world title at this point in their careers.

Anthony Dirrell vs. Sakio Bika possible for Judah-Malignaggi card on December 7th

dirrell23134By Scott Gilfoid: A fight between unbeaten #7 WBC, #12 IBF Anthony Dirrell (26-0, 22 KO’s) and WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-5-2, 21 KO’s) is possible for the December 7th Zab Judah vs. Paulie Malignaggi card at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

This is the 28-year-old Dirrell’s big chance for a title shot. He was set to get a shot against former WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward in 2012, but Dirrell was injured in a motorcycle accident in May of last year that removed any chances of him getting a crack at Ward’s strap.

Malignaggi vs. Judah & Trout vs. Lara on December 7th

lara5By Dan Ambrose: Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) will be facing each other on December 7th in a Golden Boy Promoted card on Showtime at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s) will be facing WBA interim 154 lb. champion Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s).

Judah hasn’t fought since losing a close 12 round decision to Danny Garcia last April in Brooklyn, New York. Judah did a great job of taking away Garcia’s left hook and forcing him to beat him with his right hand. It was still a very close fight, as Judah came on in the last part of the fight to hurt Garcia.
