By Chris Williams: WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (28-1, 18 KO’s) sounds enthusiastic about the idea of facing undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16 KO’s) in the near future. However, it’s going to have to wait a while because Donaire’s promoter Bob Arum has scheduled Donaire to fight former IBF/WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares (44-6-2, 20 KO’s) on July 28th in Texas.
Brandon Rios to fight Richard Abril April 14th; Rios-Gamboa fight is dead in the water
By Dan Ambrose: The previously scheduled April 14th fight between Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Brandon Rios is now officially dead with Gamboa opting not to take the fight. Top Rank, the promoters for Gamboa and Rios, is reportedly suing Gamboa for breach of contract for failing to take the fight after having already agreed to it. The fight was supposed to be televised on HBO.

Gamboa has failed to show up for two of the press conferences for the Rios fight this week and it’s thought that Gamboa won’t agree to fight Rios.
