Wladimir Klitschko’s win over Chambers might not have been impressive enough

Image: Wladimir Klitschko’s win over Chambers might not have been impressive enoughBy Jason Kim: Although IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) dominated American Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s) for the entire 12 rounds and eventually stopped him in the 12th round last Saturday night for an exciting ending to the fight, it might not have been enough to impress American television network executives at HBO to want to put Klitschko on their cable network in the future. We’ll have to see what happens, but I don’t think this is the kind of performance that Klitschko needed to make a statement for himself as the kind of fighter that the average American boxing fan wants to see for an entertaining fight.

Is Wladimir Klitschko a bigger puncher than Lennox Lewis?

By Dave Lahr: In watching last Saturday night’s fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Eddie Chambers, I came away from the fight being very impressed with the overall punching power of the 33-year-old Klitschko. I think his power rates near the top of the all time great punchers in the heavyweight division, better than fighters like George Foreman, Joe Louis, Sonny Liston and Rocky Marciano. Perhaps the heavyweight that closest compares to that of Klitschko in terms of power is the 6’5” Lennox Lewis (41-2-1, 32 KO’s). Both Lewis and Wladimir are tall heavyweights, with long arms and massive power.

Steward calls Haye “Chinny,” doesn’t think he’ll fight Wladimir

Image: Steward calls Haye “Chinny,” doesn’t think he’ll fight WladimirBy Scott Gilfoid: Emanuel Steward, the trainer of IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, has his doubts that World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) will fight Wladimir in the future. Steward says in an article at the Mirror, “I don’t think Haye is going to do anything but talk. He may fight Ruiz but he will not fight Klitschko. Haye should win against Ruiz but you always worry about him [Haye] because he’s too chinny. Even Monte Barrett had him down.” Mr. Steward, I totally agree with you. I’ve thought those exact same things about Haye for some time.

Wladimir says he will “beat up” Haye like he did Chambers

Image: Wladimir says he will "beat up" Haye like he did ChambersBy Eric Thomas: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is making no bones about his wish to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. In an article at the Daily Mail, Wladimir had this to say about Haye: I will do the same to Haye as I did to Chambers if I get him. When I get him I am going to enjoy the process.”

“He [Haye] criticizes my jab, jab, grab. He will eat a lot of jabs. I will just beat him up and then knock out Haye in one of the late rounds.” Klitschko destroyed Eddie Chambers last Saturday night in a 12th round knockout. With only seconds to go in the fight, Klitschko connected with a perfect left hook that knocked Chambers out cold. The American was down on the canvas for a long time after the knockdown.

Wladimir says he will give Haye’s title belt to Vitali after beating Haye

Image: Wladimir says he will give Haye’s title belt to Vitali after beating HayeBy Jason Kim: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) wants to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) in the worst way. The problem is that Wladimir’s older brother World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko also wants to fight Haye. The two brothers are going back and forth with each other to try and decide which one will be the lucky person to get a fight with Haye, and along with it a huge payday. A fight against Haye means big money because it’s a fight that boxing fans in the United States and elsewhere in the world really want to see.

What could Chambers have done to beat Wladimir?

Image: What could Chambers have done to beat Wladimir?By Chris Williams: It’s hard not to look at the performance that American heavyweight challenger Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s) put in against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) on Saturday night without seeing things that Chambers could have done to make himself more competitive against Wladimir. I’m not sure if Chambers could have won the fight no matter what he did, but he at least might have had a better chance at being competitive had he made some small adjustments during the fight.

Would Haye do any better than Chambers did against Wladimir?

Image: Would Haye do any better than Chambers did against Wladimir?By Scott Gilfoid: In watching last night’s fight between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 38 KO’s) and Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s), I can easily see how WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) would look as equally bad as Chambers did in losing to Wladimir. You can’t even call the Chambers-Klitschko fight a bout. It resembled a schoolyard beating where a huge kid toyed with a smaller kid, beating him up in front of a huge crowd of people. Chambers had no chance, really, and just stood on the outside with his hands in front of his face absorbing shots.

Image: Klitschko destroys Chambers, wants Haye next – NewsBy Scott Gilfoid: International Boxing Federation/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) dominated Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s) on Saturday night, stopping him with only five seconds to go in the 12th round to get the win at the ESPRIT arena, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Chambers, 27, never had a chance and received a one-sided beating for 12 rounds that was strangely reminiscent of Klitschko’s first win over Chris Byrd 10 years ago in 2000.

Klitschko scores 12th round KO against Chambers, but fails to impress

Image: Klitschko scores 12th round KO against Chambers, but fails to impressBy Dave Lahr: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KO’s) one of the most timid looking fights I can remember seeing for 11 boring round until finally getting his act together and scoring a 12th round knockout win over American Eddie Chambers (35-2, 18 KO’s) with only five seconds to go until the end of the fight. But it took the urging of his trainer Emanuel Steward for the 33-year-old Klitschko to man up and go for the knockout. With Steward all over his backside, Klitschko came out for the 12th round on fire, throwing right hands with abandon and driving Chambers all around the ring.
