Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Lopez – Official weights

lopez

By Eric Baldwin: Former two division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez (34-5, 31 KOs) weighed in on Friday for his fight against WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. (24-6-1, 19 KOs) for their fight on pay-per-view this Saturday night at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 33-year-old Lopez weighed in at 128.6lbs. His opponent 32-year-old Vasquez weighed in at 129lbs.

This is going to be a good fight to see which of the two fighters has anything left in the tank at this point in their careers. Judging by the many losses the two fighters have faced in the last tail end of their careers, I’d say that neither can do much. Vasquez Jr. has lost three out of his last four fights, and five out of his last eight fights.

By Dan Ambrose: Juan Manuel Lopez and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. will be facing each other two months from now on October 8th in a scheduled 10 round bout in the featherweight division at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is an interesting fight between two former world champions that have seen better days in their careers.

The 33-year-old Lopez (34-5, 31 KOs) hasn’t fought in almost two years since his 2nd round knockout defeat to Jesus Cuellar in September 2014. For Lopez that was his second straight defeat and his third loss in his last four fights.

Lopez’s career started going downhill dramatically three years before that when he was beaten by Orlando Salido by an 8th round knockout in April 2011. Lopez lost to Salido in the rematch in getting stopped in the 10th round.

By Jim Dower: Despite having lost recent fights against Nonito Donaire and Jorge Arce, former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (22-2-1, 19 KO’s) showed that he’s still a cut above the likes of #2 WBO Jonathan Oquendo (22-3, 15 KO’s), beating him by a 7th round TKO on Saturday night at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Vazquez Jr., 28, knocked Oquendo down in the 7th, causing the referee to halt the bout at 2:33 of the round.

By Alex Prodromou: Wilfredo Vazquez Jr, 26, (22 – 2)15 KO’s is the former WBO Super Bantamweight champion. He lost his strap to Jorge Arce on the 7th of May 2011. As you saw in this fight Wilfredo had no inside game. This was because he only started taking boxing seriously 5 years prior to this at 21 years of age. Before this Vazquez Jr had been studying law however he gave that up to pursue his boxing career.
