Vitali Klitschko given another extension to decide when or if he’ll fight again

vitali344By Allan Fox: The World Boxing Council has given WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) another extension to decide on when he’ll be fighting again or if he’ll be fighting again. Vitali needs until December 15th to make a decision and the WBC has granted him permission for the second extension.

The WBC was asked by Vitali to give him until November 30th originally for him to tell them what his plans are for this WBC title, which he hasn’t defended in the past 15 months since September 2012 when he defeated Manuel Charr of Germany for his 2nd consecutive optional title defense. Vitali hasn’t defended against a mandatory challenger for over 2 years since he beat Tomasz Adamek in September 2011.

Vitali Klitschko with one week to make decision on WBC title

vitali674By Jim Dower: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitscko (45-2, 41 KO’s) is down to his final week before he must let the World Boxing Council know what he plans on doing with his career in terms of defending or vacating his WBC heavyweight belt. At the recent WBC convention in Thailand, the 42-year-old Vitali asked for more time to make his decision.

The WBC gave Vitali until the end of November for him to say what his plans are. It’s unclear why Vitali needed to wait specifically until November 30th for him to say whether he wants to continue on with his career or retire.

Why Vitali Klitschko should be stripped of the WBC Title immediately

vitali4By Al Hmiel: Why was WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko allowed to not fight for 14 months and hold the WBC and Boxing is suspense? Klitschko 42 years old and 45-2, 41 KO’s in the ring and so-called heavyweight champion of the WBC. He hasn’t been fighting, and he says he wants to be a President of the Ukraine.

Vitali’s political aspirations hurts the ranked WBC opposition that have been patiently waiting to get a title shot for the past year. Vitali has 14 long months in defending his title and making worthy contenders wait in anticipation and losing their chance at that big payday. Amazing and yet sad.

Vitali to announce his plans on November 30th

vitali234324By Allan Fox: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) was able to get out of the WBC’s 51st national convention without being stripped of his title for not having failed it, and without him giving any plans when or if he’s going to defend the belt. Vitali asked and was given permission by the World Boxing Council to put off his decision until November 30th.

It’s unclear what’s so magical about November 30th for him to be waiting until then to make an announcement. It’s expected that Vitali will announce his next fight on November 30th, but he also could say he’s retiring. He hasn’t been in negotiations with his mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne, so it’s possible that Vitali could either retire or announce that he’s going to face someone else rather than Stiverne.

Vitali: Deontay won’t be affected by criticism

deontay11 - CopyBy Scott Gilfoid: Like a lot of people, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) couldn’t help but notice that unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) has been getting a lot of heat from some critics about his talent and opposition. Vitali sees Deontay’s critics as fighting a losing battle because nothing they say will bother Deontay.

It’s interesting that Vitali is mentioning Deontay. I wonder if he’s thinking of fighting him? Deontay is ranked #3 by the World Boxing Council. Vitali vs. Deontay would be absolutely huge in Germany. Can you picture two 6’7″ heavyweight knockout artists facing each other. It would a contest between two giant heavyweights with the highest KO percentages between them. Deontay has stopped 100 percent of his opponents, whereas Vitali has stopped 87.23 percent of his opposition.

Lennox Lewis says he’s not returning to the ring

lewis4By Scott Gilfoid: In response to the silly rumors about him coming back for $100 million to fight Wladimir Klitschko, former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis (41-2-1, 32 KO’s) said today that he has no plans at all in making a comeback. It makes sense because Lewis is nearly 50-years-old, and he wouldn’t stand a chance at Wladimir or his 42-year-old brother Vitali Klitschko.

Lewis said on his twitter “A hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question does NOT equal reality. N ocomeback. Ridiculous. I’m not stepping back in the ring but I AM looking for the next crop of new talent.”

Lennox Lewis and Promoters in talks for £100 Million Klitschko Comeback Fight!

lewis57By Ciaran McKinney: Former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion, Lennox Lewis has stated that he is in preliminary training whilst promoters consider his offer of a £100 million purse for a comeback fight against one of the Klitschko brothers. Lewis has stated that he would prefer to face the younger Wladimir. However, the promoters would like to see a rematch of the Las Vegas bout against Vitali that ended on cuts in favor of Lewis.

He says that promoters are considering his offer and will be back to him after a period of consideration and if this fight does come to fruition, then it would mirror the situation of George Foreman, who came out of retirement to win the Heavyweight Championship belt at the grand old age of 48, the same as Lewis now. As provisional training is already underway in Lewis’ camp, it is said that he could be ready to fight in as little as 6 months.

Deontay Wilder targeting Vitali Klitschko’s WBC title

deontay4444By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) says he’s being positioned by his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions to go after WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s title in 2014.

The thought here is that Vitali will either retire or vacate his strap or he’ll have taken away from him by the World Boxing Council for failing to defend the title in a timely fashion.

It’s been a year since Vitali last defended his title, and at some point the WBC is going to have to strip Vitali of his belt if he’s not going to defend the title on a regular basis.

Vitali Klitschko hasn’t ruled out a Haye fight

vitali3432By Eric Thomas: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) is currently recovering from a hand injury sustained in training. While Vitali hasn’t said what he’s going to do once his hand is healed, he’s not ruling out a future showdown against former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) as a possible fight for him. Vitali will likely face Bermane Stiverne next because there’s getting around that fight if Vitali wants to keep his WBC title.

Vitali said to BBC Radio Five Live “I think I will box again. My brother [Wladimir Klitschko] showed David Haye a very good fight, with a very good result. Let’s see. Why not? But at the moment, I don’t want to take about major plans. I have an official contender, everything depends on the World Boxing Council.”
