Also in action in yet another busy weekend for boxing fans are WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBC Featherweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon in defenses of their titles.
And where else to start this weeks preview but in the modern day Mecca of boxing the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and the fight that has everyone talking yet again unbeaten WBC Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0) and Robert Guerrero (31-1-1).
By Dan Ambrose: Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) weighed in today at 222 pounds for Saturday’s fight against big Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) for their bout at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Walker, 6’4 1/2″, came in at 235 lbs.
By Eric Thomas: 35-year-old former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) will be facing American Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) on Saturday night in a scheduled 12 round bout to be televised on WealthTV at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
#4 IBF, #9 WBC, Adamek is hoping to get another title shot in the next year, so he’s going to need as many wins over journeyman/fringe level opposition that he can get in order to get a 2nd shot – and 2nd big payday – at a heavyweight world title. Adamek already got a crack last year against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last September, and failed badly in the fight, getting stopped in the 10th round.
By Dan Ambrose: Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) could have more than he bargained for against journeyman Travis Walker 39-7-1, 31 KO’s) on September 8th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Adamek, 35, picked out the 6’4 1/2″ Walker to fight as another stepping stone for a title shot. Walker, however, doesn’t want to be a stepping stone and he’s a real threat to beating Adamek if he can land his right hand.

Tomasz defends his IBF North American heavyweight title on the rare afternoon card also featuring heavyweight prospect, Bryant Jennings, and former world cruiserweight champion in heavyweight action, Steve Cunningham. This week Tomasz spoke with me following his pre-fight media workout.
By Dan Ambrose: IBF North American heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) is hoping that he’ll be fighting for a world title in 2013 against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko within two fights time. Adamek, 35, first has to defeated journeyman Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) in an IBF eliminator for #2-spot on September 8th, and then one more fight next year for the #1 mandatory spot.
By Jason Kim: 35-year-old former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) is hoping to get another shot at the heavyweight world title next year so that he capture one of the straps after having failed in his first attempt last year in a 10th round TKO defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last September in Poland.
By Dan Ambrose: The September 8th fight card headlined by heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) vs. Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) has some decent talent but mostly involved in mismatches at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey.
By Dan Ambrose: Tomas Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) doesn’t take a lot of chances in terms of facing dangerous opposition when trying to get world title shots against the Klitshko brothers.
