Bellew, 29, was beaten by WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly last October in a fight where Cleverly exposed Bellew’s lack of stamina by turning up the heat on him by fighting at a fast pace until Bellew had little left in the past four rounds.

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn asked the question that was on the tongues of a lot of boxing fans today when upon hearing the news that WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11 Ko’s) will be facing Tommy Karpency (21-2-1, 14 KO’s) next on February 25th, Hearn said on his twitter “Why not give Tony Bellew the rematch? It was a great fight and easy to make again?” Hearn is 100% right of course.

By Scott Gilfoid: According to promoter Frank Warren, a rematch between Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11 KO’s) and Tony Bellew (16-1, 11 KO’s) is possible for 2012. It won’t be happening in his next fight on February 25th, though. Cleverly will be defending his belt in Wales and it’s not likely he’s going to get much of an opponent, although I don’t understand how he isn’t due to his mandatory defense since his last fight against the #13 ranked Bellew.
