By Jim Dower: World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) is looking forward to fighting WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KO’s) next. In article by Greg Leon of Boxing Talk, the 26-year-old Bradley says “I was going to fight Abregu, which would have been a dangerous fight. But I guess since he [Maidana] destroyed Victor Cayo, who was a mover, they feel he can deal with anybody. My people were on the horn with Maidana’s people after he stopped Cayo, and I want nothing but the best, and Maidana is a great fight. He established himself with a great win over Victor Cayo. Maidana, after I beat him, Khan will have nowhere to run. Then after I beat Khan, Devon Alexander will probably be my following match.”

By Jim Dower: According to news from Dan Rafael of ESPN, unbeaten World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) could be facing WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KO’s) next instead of welterweight Luis Carlos Abregu. A fight between Maidana and Bradley would be a sensational bout, much better than a mismatch like Bradley and Abregu. It’s not that Abregu isn’t a decent fighter, because he’s a good welterweight, but he doesn’t bring the same kind of excitement to the ring that the hard punching and aggressive Maidana does.

By Eric Thomas: WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) has signed with HBO, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Bradley, 26, has been fighting on Showtime as of late. However, Showtime didn’t have him under contract, which enabled HBO to scoop him up for their network. This move should enable Bradley to be set up against other top light welterweights that HBO has been showing on their cable network, like Devon Alexander. For the time being, Bradley will be matched up with welterweight contender Luis Carlos Abregu (29-0, 23 KO’s) on June 26th.

By Jim Dower: World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) says that he’s interested in fighting IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) in June if possible.
In an article at Boxing Talk, Bradley said “Let’s do it” when asked if he’d be interested in facing Alexander in June. However, Bradley says that the “money has to be right” for him to fight Alexander.

By William Mackay: On his twitter page, World Boxing Association Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KO’s) says that he’ll be fighting unbeaten WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) this year in 2010. Khan says “It aint my problem [Juan Manuel] Marquez pulled out, and now we fighting Paulie Malignaggi. Tim Bradley will happen this year. Let me my debut in USA. I aint ducking nobody in this moment of time. Malignaggi is a great fight to enter U.S. Boxing is a business, Guys, and I need to make a living. Come on, Guys, why hate. I’m fighting Paulie Malignaggi, and will KO him. I am willing to make a loss in money in this fight just to shut mouths.”

Edwin Valero with his 27-0 record with 27 knockouts has been campaigning at lightweight but is expected to move up to junior wellterweight for his next fight. There have been many stories of fighters ducking other fighters in this talent-rich division lately.
It appears Bradley the WBO champion has been complaining of not being able to find an opponent, claiming everyone is scared of him.

They point to the popularity of UFC and say it’s taken over boxing. That’s interesting considering in the last UFC PPV, UFC 109, the headliner Randy Couture got a whopping $250,000 for his winning effort against Mark Coleman. That was the most of any contestant that night. If Mayweather-Pacquiao ever happens both stand to earn between $30-$40 million.
The top earner in the UFC just got a quarter of a million. Dana White, head of the UFC, moved a PPV event from May 1st to May 8th when he found out that Mayweather-Mosley was going to fight the same night.

None of the top fighters are interested in fighting Bradley. Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana, and even Edwin Valero are thrilled at getting in the ring and trying their luck against Bradley. And who can blame them for not wanting to fight him.

By Jason Kim: According to the latest boxing news gossip, lightweight knockout artist Edwin Valero (27-0, 27 KO’s) could be facing WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley on June 5th on Showtime. This is a fight, if it happens at all, which will be taking place at light welterweight rather than lightweight. Valero, 28, wants to move up in weight to get his feet wet at light welterweight to test his abilities at the higher weight class.
