By Eric Thomas: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KO’s) will take his wins anyway he can them. Earlier tonight, Alexander won what many boxing fans see as a gift decision by the judges against former WBA light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-4-1, 13 KO’s) at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. The final judges scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. After the fight, Alexander, 23, said that he wants to fight WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley next. That fight, if it can be successfully negotiated between two different promotional teams, will likely take place in January.

Arum wants Marquez to beat Clottey, Berto, Alexander or Bradley before he’ll match Marquez against Pacquiao
By Dan Ambose: If Juan Manuel Marquez wants a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, he’s going to have to fight and beat some of the top light welterweights and some welterweights as well. In an article by Dan Rafael of ESPN, Top Rank Promotion Bob Arum had this to say about Marquez fighting Pacquiao in the future:

By Peter Wells: Manny Pacquiao had plenty of options for his next fight, such as Paul Williams, Andre Berto and Timothy Bradley, which would have all been very intriguing fights for hardcore boxing fans. But Bob Arum only had two fighters on his mind – Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto – both promoted in Arum’s Top Rank stable. These were the only fighters Bob mentioned putting fights together with Pacquiao.

By Sean McDaniel: Gary Shaw, the promoter for World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) is very interested in matching Bradley against WBO light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) in the near future, according to the Examiner.com. Shaw has reportedly made contact with Golden Boy Promotions, the promoter for Khan, to see if he could set up the fight between Khan and Bradley. However, Shaw still hasn’t heard anything back as of yet. Khan, 23, will be at the Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz lightweight bout tonight at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

By Eric Thomas: Earlier today, World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) went at it against WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) on their Twitter pages, talking trash to each other.
From reading what Khan and Bradley had to say to each other, it’s pretty clear that they genuinely dislike each other intensely.

He was asked to analysis the top contenders along with Freddie Roach and Ricky Hatton who gave a shorter but better summary of the fighters. First he was asked about Marquez and said that “Marquez would be a perfect fight for me soon- maybe next.” He also once again brought up that he reckons he doesn’t get enough credit in the UK. Freddie and Ricky both back a victory for Khan.
Roach thinks that Khan and Pacquiao would beat Timothy Bradley
By Dave Lahr: If nothing else, you can never say that trainer Freddie Roach is loyal to his fighters Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, both of which he feels would beat World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley if they were to ever fight. Of course, it’s highly unlikely that Pacquiao and Khan will ever fight Bradley, so that is kind of meaningless for Roach to even predict wins for his fighters over Bradley. Khan is being positioned to fight lightweights Juan Manuel Marquez or Juan Diaz, and Pacquiao has been stuck fighting Top Rank fighters from his own stable, and his promoter doesn’t seem interested in matching Pacquiao up with Bradley.
HBO interested in Alexander vs. Bradley on January 29th – News
By Jim Dower: HBO Sports is hoping to put together a light welterweight unification bout between IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) and WBO light welterweight title holder Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) early next year on January 29th, 2010, says Dan Rafael. Gary Shaw, Bradley’s promoter, is already reportedly working with HBO in putting together the Bradley-Alexander fight. However, the fight is contingent upon the 23-year-old Alexander beating former WBA junior welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik when they meet next month on August 7th at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Bradley, Cotto, or Margarito: Who Should Win The Pacquiao Sweepstakes?
By Lemarcus: The collective opinions reflected in boxing columns continue to amaze and confuse me. Especially where the “Pac Man Sweepstakes” is concerned in regards to who should claim the prize. Bradley is an excellent fighter no doubt, (I am a fan of him myself), but he doesn’t deserve a shot against Pacquiao nor will he ever get a shot at MP. (More on that later)
