Speaking to TMZ, Briggs told them that he’s been in talks with Fury for some time about a fight between them. Briggs says the fight with Fury will be happening in April, and he’s already predicting a 1st round knockout of the 6’9” inactive fighter.

Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) says he isn’t going to chase a fight with Fury though. Briggs just wants him to know that if he wants to fight him, and then he needs to sign the contract so the two of them can fight each other in 2018.

This would be a very interesting fight for the boxing fans in the UK. Briggs is a real character, and he still has a lot of pop in his punches. He’d be a definite threat to Fury if the fight takes place.

The fight was canceled on Tuesday following the news of the 44-year-old Briggs testing positive for increased level of testosterone during a test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency last month on May 14. Briggs and Oquendo were going to be fighting next month on June 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The positive test means that the 45-year-old Briggs’ scheduled June 3rd fight against 44-year-old Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24 KOs) will be called off. Briggs and Oquendo were supposed to be fighting for the vacant WBA World heavyweight title. Briggs’ drug test by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association on May 14 tested high for testosterone, according to Dan Rafael.
