By Dan Ambrose: Former junior middleweight world champion Sergio “Latin Snake” Mora is giving the edge to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez over Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 16. Mora says he previously was picking Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) to win that fight, but he’s now changed his mind after seeing how dominant Canelo was in beating an over-matched Julio Chavez Jr. by a 12 round unanimous decision on May 6. Canelo won every round in beating Chavez Jr. by the scores 120-108, 120-108 and 120-108.

Daniel Jacobs has power to hurt Golovkin says Mora

jacobs-mora-7

By Dan Ambrose: Sergio Mora says WBA ‘regular” 160lb champion Danny Jacobs has the punching power to hurt IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin if he can get to his chin in the first three rounds. Mora believes that Jacobs has the better overall punching power than Golovkin. However, he feels that Golovkin has the better technique, which will kick in after the 3rd round if he’s still in the fight.

Mora sees Jacobs as having a suspect chin that Golovkin could take advantage of if he can get him past the third round.

Image: Jacobs: I want GGG if he beats Brook

By Allan Fox: WBA World middleweight champion Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) did his thing last Friday night in beating the light hitting grizzled 35-year-old veteran Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-5-2, 9 KOs) by a 7th round knockout, and now he wants to fight Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) next. Jacobs says that if IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Golovkin wins his fight tonight against challenger Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KO), then that’s the fight that he wants next.

“I want to prove to the world that I’m the best middleweight. If GGG gets the victory tomorrow, that’s who we want,” said Jacobs.

jacobs-mora-8

By Dan Ambrose: For boxing fans interested in seeing WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) fight Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) again, the two of them will be fighting it out in a rematch tonight on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from the Santander Arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania.

It’s not a fight that has really electrified the sport, and you have to wonder whether their Jacobs’ management understands what the fight fans want to see. By Dan Ambrose: World Boxing Association World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) successfully made weight on Thursday for his rematch against 35-year-old Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) for their fight on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Spike this Friday at the Santander Arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania. There has been very little interest in the Jacobs-Mora rematch, and you can hope for is casual fans choosing to tune in on Spike, one of the free channels. It’s just not a fight that the fans in general consider to be needed or wanted at this point. Jacobs showed last year that he was the better fighter in stopping Mora in the 2nd round.
