Ward thinks that the 30-year-old Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) could be hurt by the weight loss for the fight, as he needs to get down to 164 ½ lb. catch-weight limit that Canelo’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions asked for in order for the fight to take place.

Ward says the excuse making that Kovalev is doing shows more about him now than he learned about him in their past fight on November 19th last year. Kovalev says he’s going to punch Ward and punish him, and not let the judges have a say so in the rematch. Kovalev says he doesn’t rate Ward as the pound for pound No.1 fighter like Ring Magazine recently voted “SOG” in following the loss of Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez.
By Dan Ambrose: Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) has ruled out entirely him moving back down to 168 to fight unbeaten Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) after he moves up to super middleweight. Ward says that it’s too hard to move back down in weight. He doesn’t want to put himself in that position where he has to lose weight to go back to his old division. However, Ward is still open to fighting Golovkin if he’s willing to move up to 175 to fight him.
